I made a thing!
I guess what I like best is how quickly the driveway is filling up again. This is shovel #4 for the day.

your suposed to go strait down the middle and then clear each side so you dont have to push the snow as far

Well done!
Next time, go down the middle of the driveway with a clear path first. You will significantly reduce the amount of effort required to get the snow to each side of the driveway. Never go around the perimeter of the driveway with snow still present on the center of the driveway, always shovel from the center out. You will significantly decrease your efficiency if you have to shovel the same area twice.
I yell this stuff out my front door at my kids all the time.

I’m scared. I was going to go take a picture of the driveway. Apparently the drifts have blown against the door...the garage door won’t open.

That’s nuts. I can’t see out any of my windows, I haven’t shoveled a damn thing, and a big chunk of my tree was blocking the neighbors’ driveway earlier. I'm hiding until it slows down a bit!

I had one, I sold it (on criagslist). it was so inconvenient to get out each time. also.... I’m fat, can’t hurt to have to shovel a dozen times :D

everyone’s a critic :P
I go from the middle to the sides, making chevrons down the drive. so essentially half at a time

But if you get aggressive with your chevrons, you’re throwing snow over the areas you cleared when you get to the end of the driveway.

well by the end of the winter last year i had to put some serious consideration into how to shovel the driveway. The mounds were to the underside of the branches of the trees to either side of the driveway. I ended up starting at the end and pushing back into my driveway at a 45*. I was getting so much snow at the end of the driveway I couldn’t see if there was traffic coming. I dont think i could have handled another year like that again. I still need time to recover.

You know if you start in the middle and just make ever increasing circles .... just kidding. The only help I can offer- move south. Not to brag but when I lived in Chicago my next door neighbor had a snow plowing service. Always did mine before leaving and when he returned - for free. If you can’t move out of town, there’s an option. Find someone like that and move next to him.
