This is so disappointing, I just got back into IndyCar last season and I think the racing is quite possibly the best of any series in America.

However, the officiating body clearly has no idea what they are doing. How is it a good idea to have 7 months of between seasons?

Indycar hasn’t been the same since the stupid irl vs cart battle. I was a huge fan in the late 80s and early 90s when you used to get a million people at the 500 and the race would sell out months in advance. The racing is alot better now but the cars are so damn ugly I have a hard time getting into it.

While that is possible, I expect that there will be 34 entries, and so one person will be bumped.

My tickets came in the mail a coupe days ago!

IndyCar as a sanctioning body is completely clueless. If you just got into it last year, you missed a lot of really stupid decisions in the past. Be thankful for that. I’m glad they lengthened the season this year, this over by Labor Day crap was ridiculous.

I agree that the racing is phenomenal. You live fairly close to Indy, I cannot recommend enough that you go see the race this year. This will be my 20th 500, I’ve been going since I was 15 years old. The experience is amazing.

You don’t even need to buy a ticket in advance, there will be tons of tickets being scalped for face value outside the track before the race (scalping is legal in Indiana). Don’t buy from the guys a mile or two from the track, they’re ripoff artists charging way too much to people who don’t know any better.

You can also bring a 14" or smaller cooler full of your own drinks and food, which is awesome. Just don’t bring glass bottles.

I love Indy Cars. I just wish they had a better means or outreach to other Motor Sports fans. My dad is an Engineer like me...or me like him (whatever). He started attending the St Pete Grand Prix with me every year as it is fun and fascinating, however without me explaining tires, fuel, pitstops, downforce and other stuff he’d never have understood it all.

I used to gather crowds as I’d be around a car explaining it to my dad and other folks listened on and asked questions. Sometimes I’d answer it and occasionally a crew member would walk over and correct/save me.

If they started explaining Indy more or the concepts/designs they may be able to draw in more fans to the sport.

Maybe this is a Youtube channel that is missing in the world.....”Oppo Explains Indy”

I only got back into making a point of watching the races last year, I always watched the highlights and kept up with the news. I am pretty aware of the shit shoe the sanctioning body has been.

I hadn’t even thought about going to race, I am so used to being on the west coast I didn’t even think about. Hmmmmm....... time to talk to Mrs. Blackcar.
