I miss this show. Or rather, I miss the re-runs of this show.

Asked my coworker a few minutes ago if he’d seen it. “I’ve never even heard of it”.

I grew up on this show. I probably had all 12(?) episodes memorized by age 7, even though I probably only understood 10% of the jokes (on account of being a kid, as well as my non-Britishness). For a kid, it's all about sight gags — the garden gnome at the front desk was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I was all about some Manuel.

The moose head in
The Germans
is probably the single best and most varied use of a prop in a sitcom of all time. Blunt object, item of contention, sisyphean boulder, puppet/face for the Major’s general checked-outness, bulky object, breaking object, repulsive object... the novelty leg lamp doesn’t hold a candle (ha) to it.

Damned straight. For people who never saw the show, I just tell them to imagine the best Seinfeld episodes of all time, but with an angry Kramer as the protagonist. But then I started meeting younger people who had never even seen much Seinfeld. I miss sitcoms that were done more like live theatre, not overly polished like a feature film.
