I found this interesting. In the 1950's, there were Cocodrilo (Crocodile) taxis in Mexico.

The above photo is a 1957 Ford. The following photo is a fleet of 1958 Chevys.

Ah yes, los cocodrilos. Absolute legends in Mexico D.F. I know a place near Plaza Carso that has garage full of these.

Some were featured in The Largest Classic Car Parade in the Woooorld 2 years ago in Mexico D.F.

WORLD RECORD!!!!

Thanks, friend! Was there any particular reason for them?

It was the official taxi livery at the time. The liveries change every so many years. The 57/58 Ford was just the most common choice of vehicle indeed but any vehicle that was a taxi used that livery. Currently (since 2015), the official livery of the city is pink and white. All official city taxis have to use this livery (few exemptions)

Interesting! I love the cocodrilo livery, but not the present pink and white so much.

Thanks so much! Here’s a cookie for you!

I think Monterrey still uses the green with white top
