I’m guessing, but I think has to do with the DRM component in the HTML5
Just a guess though. I use uBlock origin on all of Kinja.

It’s just HTML5 DRM shit. I have no idea why the fuck it needs to run on Gawker, but it’s not malicious (that I know of).
