I had to deal with IT. They haven’t a clue. They promoted a guy who doesn’t have enough juice and he’s union and we’re stuck with him.

Worked 5-1:30. Came home, had a beer, rode my bike (after sobering up), had dinner and am now currently running the dishwasher. Also got a big vinyl delivery today.

My AC still isn’t fixed. New furnace/blower is installed, but there’s a problem with the house electrics that can’t supply the proper power supply to the furnace. The blower starts, then about 10 seconds later it cuts off. The tech installed a breaker to bypass the transformer, after blowing the first transformer. The breaker just keeps popping. And we still don’t know if the compressor is working outside because the blower isn’t running long enough to make it start. But when the tech took off the service panel, there was a strong smell of burnt wires. I’m sure that’s a good sign, right? We’ve got to solve the electricity issues first. So, there’s my day. Part II tomorrow. Electrician is coming in the morning, followed by the AC tech. We may be getting a new compressor unit after all. But if this is all related to the lightning, and I’m sure it is, then homeowners should cover much of it.

I got back on my bicycle today after a week and a half of illness and bad weather. I get 20 miles on the days that I ride, all commuting.

You might consider joining the Strava Oppo Bicycle Club:

Just joined, although for some reason it listed my location as Pomona, CA. I’ll get my profile and rides set up soon. It switched me to the desktop version of the website after I joined and it isn’t being mobile friendly.

Work was easy and went quick, which is always nice. On my way home the cd changer stopped working in my car. It swaps CDs and ejects them and loads hem but won’t read. Easy upgrade is a new head unit but I prefer the stock look. I used to have a afternarket in my old car but I hated the blue lights shining in my face even when they were on the “low” setting.

Same. What about an Aux connection and an iPod? Aren’t you sort of stuck in a previous-century vortex?

There is no aux in. All of the ones available that retain the factory head unit use a blank cd. I could maybe try to stealth install one of those aux only head units behind the factory face.

I’m about to go out and do battle with an FM modulator in my daughter’s car. They swear these have gotten better over the years... I’ll let you know how it goes. The car is an ‘89 Camry with a cassette deck. The cassette aux adapter worked great and we’ve had good luck with those, but not when the cassette player dies in the factory radio. Twice. Part of the issue with the second one, I believe, is that my daughter insisted on playing actual cassette tapes in it. I wish she hadn’t, and had just stuck with the adapter.

You can still get actual cassettes?! I have an adapter but there is a significant sound difference. The factory sub under the passenger seat isn't even a factor in the tape adapter

Cool. It let me into the group, but that’s it. I’ve never tracked how long my typical ride route is, but it’s roughly 10 miles. It’s a lap around the small city I live in, mostly on city streets but with a 1.5 mile paved trail in a park. If I cross over the bridge into the next city, it adds another 2-3. When the weather’s good like it has been, I ride an average of 5 days a week.

Strava is very cool. With the computer web interface you can define routs and segments and it’ll time you each time you ride that segment. It’ll also measure a newly defined segment against any previous ride that the segment was a part of.
