I went truck shopping today and. Meh. Nothing impressed me and the pricing is insane right now.
Truck 1, 2009 F150 XL with that weird not quite an extended cab and a short bed. 2wd, 5.4 auto, rubber floors and air. 125,000 on the clock.
$9250
Truck 2, 2008 Nissan Titan extended cab loaded. 110,000 miles.
$14,500
Truck 3, 2006 Nissan Frontier XE. Extended cab 2wd, 4cyl, 5 speed. No frills 132,000 miles
$8450
There were a few others but it had been a long enough day already and I was itching for some beers. Time to head home.
Yeah each dealer was willing to get that payment right where it needs to be. That doesn’t justify overpaying for anything though.
Hell, if I’m going to sign a 72 month note I’m getting a Raptor or a King Ranch not some crappy base model..

Shame about the rust. That is one clean looking specimen otherwise.

I’ve toyed with a restoration of sorts. The lack of power would be the biggest obstacle.

I advise staying away from Nissan trucks. Transmissions tend to go and since there is a computer inside the freaking transmission they tend to also be expensive to replace.

You’re the second one to warn of that issue. I may have to take heed.
I’m leaning toward F150s really, there are so many Nissans out there it was hard not to look. I guess there’s a reason for that. I wouldn’t mind a Tundra or even a Taco but jeebus, they hold their value like mad.

Stay away from the 2009 f150 (or any 3v/4v modular engine) if the plugs have never been changed or are of the 2 piece design.
Ole krusty may be no frills, but they don’t make trucks like that anymore.

Compared to a modern base model truck Crusty is a friggin Cadillac!
Every truck I looked at today had an oppressive Gray on Black thing going on. I was happy to get back to my 1980s-90s Ford Blue recliner.
