Kinja'd!!!

I drove a JK Unlimited, like the one pictured, in mild wind and the thing was all over the place. So it’s not really easy to drive.

Doesn’t matter, I still #DEEP(ly) love the JK.

Well, and to be fair, the, “easy to drive,” could refer to one of those, “if you have a pay stub with you, you can take this vehicle home,” way of car sales.

I’ve driven one at 80mph+ a few times. It gets scary.

I’m wondering what “hard to drive” might mean in a modern context.

I had that ‘16 Sahara as a rental in Ohio, and I drove it 70 MPH on a highway at dusk, with mild wind. I have done scarier things, but this is towards the top of the list.

Every time you hit the horn, a throwing star darts out of nowhere and hits you in the face.

The one I had was a 2011, which had the minivan engine from the late 80s/early 90s.

The 3.7 or the 3.8? Because at that time, they were just flip flopping that engine every year until the Pentastar came out halfway through the 2012 model year.

Well, it's this Jeep; how are we supposed to text while driving if a mild wind is blowing us off course?

They are crap cars, and a friend who owns says, that’s the charm, driving something that is just so horrible on the road.

I used to have a ‘99 TJ with the 2.5 and would drive between Denver and Colorado Springs frequently (75mph, heavy cross-winds). I only almost died a few times...

Many of my friends want them as their first cars, but I try to sway them to a Renegade or a Toyota Tacoma or something, because they’re better in every way.

Did you suffer from the TJ death wobble?

I never did! I once started violently hydroplaning at around 70 mph going downhill though...

These (along with things like the Z car, old, unreliable convertibles, and Miatae - I’m 6'3 and 320 lbs) are what I like to call “crazy girlfriends.” They’re fun to have on the weekends but he'll to live with every day

70mph, 80mph, i have own a tj and a yj for more than a decade, its an off road vehicle, not a highway cruiser, if you can’t judge the limitations of a vehicle why test them? You want to cruise at those speeds, buy a camaro convertible or a subaru.

Is it possible to get a YJ to 80 mph not going downhill/off a cliff?

I had a ‘95 YJ with the 2.5 and 31" wheels. We were headed into Barstow from Calico one time and got hit with a bad headwind and the only way I could make it back up the hill at faster than 35 mph was to tuck in behind semis.

Who would’ve thought that a tall brick wouldn’t be aerodynamic and cut through the wind?

True, but a majority of people that buy them use them as everyday drivers, and it’s sometimes hard to find good, legal, off-roading in my area.

I agree, but push it to that speed is just asking for trouble
