I'm assuming this isn't supposed to fall out of your alternator

I’d be worried if a sheet of plywood fell out of my alternator! Jokes aside, is anything falling in to it from above?

Considering nothing should be falling out of your alternator?

Your assumption is correct!

Mainly just air, and all the little particles that inhabit said air.

Sometimes if oil or coolant is leaking into it from above, odd looking accumulations of dust from the brushes or pulled in by the cooling fan inside the alternator can fall out.

I’d hate it too if wood fell out of my alternator.
