An original Mini passed me on my way to work today; windows down, with a grinning car nut at the wheel. I was very jealous. I miss driving a classic car every day, especially when it’s warm and sunny out. So here are a few reasonably priced rides I’d love to cruise back and forth to work in.
A damn Cherokee Chief! In great condition too. These are ice cold cool and a must have for any Jeep nut. So I’m sure they will be very expensive sometime soon. Jump on one now if they’re on your list! Maybe this one?

Late sixties/early seventies Cadillacs have a lot going for them. They definitely have presence, thanks to their sheer size alone if nothing else. Price of entry is relatively cheap too. I like the pattern on the seats in this one, it’s a little gaudy but that’s what these interiors were all about!

Some car names are just a lot of fun to say. Dodge Dart is one of them. Go on, say it. Out loud. To yourself. In a deep movie announcer voice.

I saw a GT6+ over the weekend and flipped out. They are SO tiny in person and just as good looking as the pictures suggest. This is its more common convertible cousin. But it’s close enough!

Yeah WTF? Someone imported a Nissan Pao. Not much else to say.

My eighties styling fetish is multifaceted. I do genuinely think some of those cars are good looking. These though are on the “so ugly it’s funny” list. Nevertheless, I bet it’s fun. I was driven around in a naturally aspirated 300ZX a few years ago and it sounded great. The brushed aluminum graphic equalizer on the center stack was also fucking awesome.

A pretty damn cool customized Benz. Manual Mercs are rare and therefore very exciting. I like the stance too. Not too much camber or tuck. It’s perfect. I bet this 280 is way more fun than a run of the mill slushbox equipped example.

Are you out of your mind? Or maybe you’re just fucking loaded and you have a ton of garage space? Either way, here’s your next car. It’s awesome and the first service will likely cost more than the price of entry.

It’s an auto, but that can be remedied. I prefer E12 5ers to E28s. I like the softer lines. This was the the most powerful non-m engine you could get too.

Have you been watching too much Roadkill (like me)? Here’s a cheap V8 manual muscle car. Okay maybe it’s not a muscle car. I’m not a middle aged car collector so I’m not worried about it. It’s old, it looks cool, and it probably sounds great.

280s are still WAY too cheap. 240s and 260s too for that matter. Though mint condition 240s have been climbing up in value recently. So you know it’s only a matter of time until that wave hits the 280 market. Once again, if it’s on your list, hurry up and grab one!

Okay okay fine. Here’s your massive brown wagon. Not a diesel or a manual... but it has a V8!

You could have typed nothing and just put that link of the jeep in and you would have got a star from me. Thank you for the rest of the awesomeness that is this post.

Nah I just channeled the consciousness of the Oppo hivemind. It took control of my fingers. Felt weird but I liked it.

If I could only have one I think I’d take that Aspen. I have a thing for MOPAR and it really speaks to me. Second would be that Cherokee though.

Oh man that ‘69 Deville is just lovely. I wonder how hard (well I should say how expensive) it would be to swap out that old Iron for a LC3 and a 6L80. mmmmm that would be awesome...

I’d love to see a modern V8 in an old barge like that. Would be a very cool swap. I’m sure its been done but I’ve never seen one!

me too! I know people hate on the whole restro mod thing but I think it’s the only way I’d be willing to own an old boat like this. Upgrade the brakes to some nice big disc’s and modern suspension set up but leave everything else alone. no stupid interior or exterior mods. I think that’s where most people start ruining restro mod’s. I have no issue gutting something for better modern parts though.

Yeah absolutely! Tastless exterior mods like gaudy wheels or extra body aero ruins the original look. I love old motors but I’d consider a swap if I was planning on driving it a lot. Or wanted to make it fast. I think where people run into issues with modern wheels is with the big brakes though - I think it’s hard to find wheels large enough to fit big brakes that don’t look a little out of place on a car like this

Congrats! I hope you enjoy it, one of my favorite Jeeps for sure. Especially the earlier models.

yeah, the wheels issue is a bit of an issue. safest bet is usually trying to stay 16 inch or small and going with good carbon/ceramic discs. then you get the big disc grip in a small package that can hide behind period(ish) wheels.
