I decided to keep the G8 in the garage and introduce the Cimarron to Cars and Coffee this weekend. The few times I was walking near the car I heard nothing but positivity. People were surprised to hear it was offered with a 6 cylinder giving truth to the fact that first impressions are EVERYTHING!
That 29-year-old paint and chrome still shine like new!
Ironic license plate and “V” badge.
I’d say this example of Cadillac’s “embarrassment” is holding up pretty well in spite of its reputation and downright hateful remarks from people who have probably never driven a later model. Have you driven one? Let’s see your Cimarron pics!

Wow, clean... are you the original owner? A senior neighbor across the street had one of these when I was a kid.

I love the idea of a Cadillac J-body making heads explode in the 80's. The only issue is that I don't think caddy intended to troll the world.

About 15 years ago a coworker of mine bought a super minty blue-over-silver two tone Cimarron for like $800. It had gray leather and the 2.8. He delivered pizzas in it.
On the “ironic V badge” front, maybe you should see about a 3.6 swap. I'm sure a crashed Vue or Equinox isn't that terribly expensive.

I can’t believe one survived in this shape! I’m glad you’ve continued saving it :)
I knew a couple of people who had these as beaters 15-20 years ago. They were the nicest damn $500 cars you could ever imagine, and they were both totally reliable for years.

One of my friends bought one of these in the early ‘90's. He was a door to door life insurance salesman, thought it would make him rich right out of high school. Instead, he failed to insure it, had financed it, and wadded it up into a tree of a farm road. Fun times!
Having ridden around in it when he bought it, it sucked then. I can’t imagine 30 years have been kind to one. I appreciate a survivor story, but frankly, the Cimarron was just not a good car.

I no word of a lie find this car way more interesting than the G8. You’ve made the proper choice taking this car down there.

Usually I’m really not a fan of LS swaps. Too played out.
However, I think a Cimarron is the perfect car for one.
Or a Northstar, if you wanted to keep it Cadillac...
