Some nice touches/features/things I like on the new Skoda Superb Mk3.
Electric tailgate
Umbrellas in each of the front doors
Massive amounts of legroom in the back
Cup holders as well as a tablet computer holder
Clamshell bonnet that conceals the bonnet gap in the side crease
DRLs
Sidelights
Sidelights and fog lights
Indicators (when indicating in a direction it turns off the DRL on that side so the indicator stands out)
Air cooled centre cubby and glove box
Ice scraper in fuel filler door
Well aid out dashboard

I suddenly really want a Superb. Which I can’t have, because America.
There’s seriously a lot of clever stuff that manufacturers should really take note of, especially that ice scraper, that’s genius.

I’d buy it for the scraper alone!

I can’t understand how people still buy Passats when this exists.

Ice scraper, umbrellas..... Since when does Skoda built a Rolls-Royce rival?

Superb indeed. The door umbrellas are Rolls level. Impressive.

A shame interior quality isn’t really that great on closer inspection. Plastics and fit and finish are alright, but the aluminium is mostly fake.

Or the Audi A6.
Sir what if I could give you a more economical, spacious and better looking Audi A6 and save you USD$11,000?

I never quite understood fake aluminium. It’s not like the real deal is very expensive, so why use fakes?

A 2.0TDi Mk2 Superb Elegance beat the Bentley Flying Spur back in 2009. The Elegance the equivalent to my SE L Exec.

I like the soft touch plastics. Granted the chromed plastic isn’t that appealing but there isn’t much of it around the cabin.

Not quite competitors but iirc they share the same platform. Is the Superb’s engine longitudinal mounted or transverse?

I can’t. She’s only 30 hours old and I was still showing off about the Mk2 three years on.

If Skoda was in the US where exactly would it fit? Above VW and below Audi? Or alongside Audi, lik e Chevy and GM?

Not competitors no as Skoda is aimed much lower down the VAG range but ye’, the MQB platform and underpinnings are shared.
Longitudinal I think.

Below VW. It’s a budget brand along with SEAT. They are the entry level to the VAG group.

All this and it looks great, too! The snobs can keep their badges and markups. It’s the quality and attention to detail that matter, and that shouldn’t be price dependent.

Aluminium trim is always (OK, maybe not in the plutocrat class) fake.

Yes, I think. Actually I know so but with all that plastic and whatever you can’t even see the engine!

So true.
Svend

It’s tiny. Usually the plastic covers the engine. In this case it’s such a part of the engine I think half of it is the engine.

Real thing scratches and fades so you have to apply some kind of finish so you might as well use plastic.

That’s a lovely colour, great choice, never seen it before. I never understand why people still buy a Passat if they can have a nicer and better looking Superb for less.
