Razzer frazzin slow plows dumping someone’s driveway mess into the middle of the highway...

Kinja'd!!!

I forgot how plasticky and cheap Mazdas are (it ain’t no ‘98 Camry, that thing could take HITS) and went through the pile anyways. Found this when I got to work:

Kinja'd!!!

Two smacks with my palm and it was right as rain. Gonna look at it more closely later, and make sure the fog light is still a-okay.

Oh for sure; our Sienna front bumper cover is seriously battle-scarred, and the fastening points are cracked. Not to mention that the wheel liners get eaten, the fog-lamp inserts pop out... le shrug.

I was gonna suggest just smacking it a little because it looks like it’d pop right back into place. Glad I kept reading.

My Corolla took quite a few hits (most of them from when it was my gf’s car; she got it at 16). Front bumper was missing paint all over the place. It looked like someone with a tow hitch backed into it at one point because there was a circular dent just off center. Didn’t notice it for a while because of all the other scrapes.

My 3 seems to hold up well. It's lower than the Corolla and has more front overhang. It scrapes a lot but everything is still in place.

That looks weirdly Camry-like in the last picture.

I still have the push out the dent from the last snowbank I slowly rolled into... and I bumped my garbage can into the quarter panel and have a nice crease. FROM A GARBAGE CAN. Damn thin ass Mazda metal.

Mine, fortunately, seems to be sturdier than Mazda’s of old. Only time will tell though.

Btw, garbage cans can wreak havoc on a car. The Corolla had a small dent from lightly tapping one.

That looks fixed to me, job done! TBH the front of that gen 3 is pretty stout, you should have seen the mess the front of my 07 one made of the back end of the Pug 308 estate I rear ended. My 3 was just cracked plastic, fog light etc, intercooler mount (was a 2.0 TD). The boot floor of the Pug was rippled, had to kick the boot from inside while someone held the lock open to get the boot to actually get to open, and he had a towbar fitted! lol

That’s probably going to pop back out and annoy you every once and awhile. Mine has this problem as well, I think because of a dealership that didn’t quite unbolt everything when removing a headlight.

There’s a screw that’s supposed to hold the bumper and fender together but the bumper plastic that it screws through (in the second picture) is easy to break. I just smack mine back into place every few days. I’ll fix it eventually.

I accidentally dropped a socket when tightening lug nuts, hit the hatch and put a decent dent in it. Mazda metal (on the early 3's at least) is super thin. Along with the paint, so many chips.

And rust.

Oh god yes, I’ve got an entire post on my site about my saga of rust prevention. Probably too little too late.

Yup. Lost my first paint flake last week. Won’t be long before it looks like 90% of other 1st gen Mazda3s out there.

my MS3 has the same issue on the driver’s side from a steep disembark from a tow truck.
