What engine would you stick in it?
I know this might raise an eyebrow or three, but I’ve always thought the Prowler was a cool looking car with an engine that just didn’t match its image. So what would you do to rectify this? Only rule: “practical” suggestions only, by which I mean only engines that at least have half a chance of being made to fit.

Cummins!

No clue on the size, but Hellcat motor. Make it the muscle car its looks always claimed it to me.
More reasonably, LS motor, since it simple and they’re everywhere.
EDIT: Jesus, these things did not depreciate like I thought they would have. Lowest priced one I’ve seen is 20k.

I just imagined driving a Hellcat Prowler. I think I need a bib

Obvious answer: Supercharged hemi from the hellcat

The original Viper V-10?

An S2000 engine, or the classic obvious choice LSx, which can fit anywhere!
I could also see one of the modern turbo-4's in there (Mazdaspeed 3. Ecoboost like in the Mustang and Focus RST’s, LNF, Evo’s turbo, etc)
Toyota’s 2GR would probably work, too.
The Nissan VQ is NOT one of my choices because there are some problems with a lot of their electrical parts, like the MAF, knock sensor, TPS, etc.

Id go for 2JZGTE. just ‘cause.
![]() 02/29/2016 at 22:40 |

I’d personally go 2JZ

With the narrow nose, I’d go for a BMW straight six.

A 5.9 Magnum. What the Prowler probably should’ve had in the first place. Or just a 5.7 Hemi.

2JZ, S55, some form of LS. The 2JZ and S55 should fit because narrow. I just assume an LS fits, because it fits in everything.

something long and skinny, so no typical v8 (probably LS). I’d go for turbo and high revving. Perhaps first gen honda s2000, or inline 6 from nissan.

I would probably try and shoehorn this monstrosity into it. I mean from the side the engine bay looks decently long. Then I would just let the headers vent directly out of the fenders like the Spitfire Bentley.

The 6.1 Hemi, because it needs a MOPAR engine. Plus, chances are I’d be doing the swap on my own, so going with one I KNOW is possible is a good start.

I’ll bet there’s a BMW straight-6 that would fit. I’m partial to the M54 myself.
I’m a closet Prowler fan myself. I’ve thought a lot about this.

Clearly it needs an “LS for pennies.” Anything else when someone needs an engine would just make that story into a mockery that keeps coming back to haunt Oppo.

2.7 Ecoboost. Piss of the hot rodders and the Mopar purists in one fell swoop.

im not sure if a dodge 440 would be legal,(need to have all the current car emissions installed ?) but it would look spectacular sticking up out of the hood. it also sounds like youre trying to keep all the bodywork there.
but i think it would fill the engine bay nicely.

Ooh, I missed this. Would SRT-4 swap. Not sure about the rear transaxle though. But that thing could definitely use a breathed on turbo 4 pot.
