I’ve been inundated by references to this movie for years and will finally watch it. Maybe I watched it as a child but I assume I would’ve remembered it. This particular copy was from a very popular home town rental store and was DVD 919 in the inventory.
Update 26 minutes in: Farrah Fawcett is with a buster

Enjoy! It is campy 80s, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The (dubbed, surely) opening sound of the Countach stuck with me from age 9 all through my life.

I really need to find an anthology for him. I've watched Hooper tons but still haven't watched any of the Bandits after the first.

Is it still from the Countach? I’m usure what else it could be.

I honestly don’t know. I’m not sure how else you could get that sound, other than from an honest half dozen carburetors on a V12 from an era that had so much power and so little apprehension. The conversation around it seems to quickly devolve to the level seen around “C’etait un Rendezvous” and its sound; but there’s even less information and less talk from the people who made it. I choose not to care too much about the particulars. That sound got in to my grade school mind and opened a world of possibilities that has made my life better, in a few small but important ways. As you say, if that sound isn’t a Countach... what is it? I suppose something non-road-going from the era might be a substitute, but I can’t see how the same sound would be achieved. The people who work sound for the movies are truly talented, but they can only do so much given the original material. Especially in 1984. I smile, enjoy the sound, and get a brief bit of happiness. I think we all can use that.

I’m fortunate enough to know the man that purchased the countach after filming - and he owned it until around 2006 when he sold it to a collector (the new owner also owns the dumb and dumber diablo). Needless to say, I dreamt about that car for years having seen it repeatedly through my childhood/young adult years.

I think the sound track was from the Countach. Probably added later, but I remember reading that it was the sound of the actual car.
Hope you liked the movie.

Was that owner’s favorite suit color to cruise in blue or yellow? You are fortunate enough to step around a Countach. Do you have a favorite memory?
