Without light painting...
...and with it! (Yes, I know I need to clean the Matrix soon. C1500 pics for your time).
What does Oppo think?

What is this “light painting” you speak of? Also, shared to Photography.

Light painting is using a long exposure and something like a flashlight to add extra light to a specific part of the image.

It’s what you’ll see in the second to last picture. Basically, you set a long shutter speed and a tight aperture, and then move a beam of light down the side of the car. You should end up with beautiful lines of light, as seen in the second to last picture.

Cool. I've done it before without realizing.

If you do it again then try setting your custom white balance, it might come out way cooler.
Nice pics btw :)

Yeah, I completely forgot about setting the white balance, mainly because it was getting a bit chilly out there so I didn’t have a ton of time until my camera stopped being happy. Thanks for the tip!

Nice photos! I’ve tried light painting and I pretty much suck at it.
I forgot how much I love GMT400's. Now I’m looking at them on CL. Most of the ones near me have completely trashed interiors. A long time at work we had a red on red 88 Sierra in our fleet. I’d love to find one with that interior and black paint with a 350 some day.

Yeah, they’re good trucks. This 95 has had some stuff done to it.

Hnnnng.
Yes they are good trucks. We basically did zero maintenance to the work one and it was way more reliable than the GMT800 Duramax we had at the same time. Eventually it developed some problems due to neglect and we dragged it to auction sometime in 2009. With a 350 they are so easy to work on. One of the last truly honest trucks.

That reminds me, I should post a rev video. Long tube headers, a flowmaster muffler, and a full 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust system do wonders for an SBC.

Yeah, most people do it without realizing the name.
Always a fun little activity if you have a stable tripod.
