Sorry, folks, but I had to choose between making this super abbreviated or missing another showdown. I went with the former. So here we go. This is a close one. I’m undeniably a Cash fan boy but Depeche Mode really sells it on this one. I’m not sure for whom to vote.

I’ll be honest, I like the Depeche Mode version better. While I admire the fact that with Cash’s version, they managed to translate the techno synth beats of the original to actual instruments and have it sound good, I feel like the man in black is just ill-suited for the song. I don’t know what it is, maybe his vocals don’t fit, maybe he just isn’t suited to the fast pace of the original and trying to slow it down loses the original’s charm, but I sadly don’t think that Cash nails it, especially compared to some of his other cover songs.
Still, Cash does a better job then Marilyn "I'm still edgy dammit" Manson, who turns the song into a complete joke.

Dammit! So close, and I so want to vote for Cash. He just doesn’t quite own this one the way Depeche Mode does though.
