Kinja'd!!!

So the quacks that took my wisdom teeth out managed to damage another tooth in the process. I should also mention that it took them over 4 hrs to take out two teeth! On top of that they “forgot” have enough O2 in the room to have a safe blend with the nitrus.

So fast forward a few years later and the damaged tooth becomes a broken tooth. Now I know I should have taken care of this sooner than later, but after 4 hours of hell, I was not real keen on going back for more mouth surgery.

Broken tooth was annoying for a while, but no big deal. On Tues night it decides to crank up the PAIN! I had to take an oxy just to get the pain from excruciating to bearable.

Today take off work and find an oral surgeon to remove the tooth. He looks and says “No problem...I can have that out in a few mins.” After 5 needles in the mouth I can still feel the pain of him digging at the tooth. Oh and it turns out I have a violent reaction to epinephrine. My muscles start to shake uncontrollably and I couldn’t calm them down for at least an hour.

So that was my day...Alfa for your time.

I’m sorry but Toothlopnik should not be a thing.

Sucks though, hopefully it clears up soon.

I’m lucky my wisdom teeth came out easily, just with novacaine. I cracked one then had them removed. I didn’t really have pain when I cracked it, but I would get awful headaches every now and then until I got it out.

“On top of that they “forgot” have enough O2 in the room to have a safe blend with the nitrus.”

This definitely seems like one of those things that is more serious than it’s portrayed to be....

That sounds like a horrible experience. The dentist who removed my wisdom teeth was a very small Asian woman (like <5' tall and < 100 lbs), and she literally had to put her foot on the arm of the chair to get enough leverage to break them free. That being said she did an awesome job and got both of them out in a jiffy. I was back at work a day latter with just a little soreness in my jaw.

In my line of work, if I screw up, I’m expected to cover repairs, not the client. I hate that the medical field, especially dental, doesn’t work this way. They could basically screw up repeatedly and make you pay for it every time.

When I was a young boy, I had a butcher of a dentist, an old guy from the old school. I hated going to the dentist. I was 5 or 6 when he pulled out my two front bottom teeth simultaneously. It took me a long time to get over that.

In my early 20s I had a root canal and honestly, it was almost boring. The dentist was a woman from Pakistan who became a dentist to show people that dental care doesn’t have to be barbaric. I guess her childhood experiences were worse than mine!

Hey Tom quick question about auto loans and credit scores. If you pay off your loan early, is that going to affect your credit score very much, and if so, do you have any idea how long it takes to change your score? My friend has around a 620 score and is looking to buy a used Accord.

Thanks.

Paying loan off will give you a credit boost. As to how much depends on alot of factors, so it’s hard to say. Paying it off early doesn’t matter much as the credit bureaus don’t really care about timing.

Alright so if he’s buying a new car he should pay off the old first as it should help his credit score.

Also, he told me he only has four payments left, at 400 a piece, but his payoff online shows double what his monthly payments are. Without looking at it, I’m assuming his bank is charging an early payoff fee. Would you agree with that?

That is an insane amount to charge for early payoff and a lot of states have laws against that. Most likely he is mistaken on what his balance actually is. Have him get a written payoff amount with all fees disclosed.

That’s what I told him.

I think all my advice will be for nothing though as I suspect he'll take Carmax's ridiculously low offer and buy the car he wants from them now, rather than waiting a few months like I told him. It's a classic example of a friend asking for advice and then ignoring it.

That sucks, Tom. It can be hard to find a good dentist. I had friend who had been butchered previously and I gave her a referral to someone she is really happy with. Once you find a good one, you stick with him.

You shouldn’t have needed an oral surgeon, and any surgeon worth his salt, any dentist for that matter, should have been able to do an effective block.

I'm really sorry you went through that.
