I so love this truck. This is exactly what I want, but the prices are insane for DoKas already registered in California, especially restored triple-locker 16" Syncros like this. Unf.
And it’s TDI swapped!

It just might. I've driven this a few times now, and can safely say it would meet 90% of my truck needs. With the TDI, I'll bet it'd tow my little cars around just fine.

Nah, that's fully built syncro Westy money. This is probably worth 50-60k. Insane in any case. I'd be happy with a beater 2wd, but even those are $15-20 k now.

What is that hydraulic fitting and heat exhanger mounted in front of the radiator?
The AC hoses (if it had it) come in and hit the condensor from the bottom, so it’s not that. Is it an oil cooler?

I’m guessing it is, too. A few guys have put an intercooler up front (below), but not many. Some put it in the engine compartment like the Doka you posted.
A lot of others put the oil cooler underneath the van (or in the engine compartment, too)

Eww, not for that! I’d have trouble spending $5K for it. But maybe after a few valve bodies and top repairs you will have that $ ;)
