“Your husband really should get a newer car,” my wife’s friend told her when she saw my beigemobile. Really? Really?
Something rear wheel drive then. Manual.
Well, no. Something more practical.
Yes, now we’re talking. Wait ... 40 grand? I’d rather have an NSX ...
Now we’re really talking. But I wouldn’t be able to drive it anywhere, mods are expensive, maintenance is a bitch, and you have to stop the car to remove the roof.
But I have one of those already. I just don’t want to commute 3 hours a day in one. I need something squishy, automatic, and preferably something I don’t mind driving into the ground.
Dammit.

There’s no better all around daily beater car than a Camry. I've always said that. They can stand up to more abuse and just keep running than just about any car around.

You do realize there’s such a thing as a Camry wagon, riiight?
Alright, it’s too old again for your wife’s friend, I’m sure, but so is the NSX. Camry LE 4-dr-and-a-huge-gate wagon V6 LE.
2 rear window wipers. Not seeing much of that today. :?

Those things are rare. And the thing about used wagons is that they tend to be very heavily used.

There’s a somewhat sad truth in what you said ... wagons tend to get a harsher kind of love than their “old guy” counterparts.
