This thing is 9 years old now. It still looks contemporary. Take a look at what else GM was making in 2008
So bland and dated. Trailblazer, HHR, Cobalt, Malibu, friggin’ UPLANDER, rental-spec Impalas. Meanwhile...
Man I want one. Decent power, a very square aspect ratio, really wide stock tires, limited-slip differential, looks badass, the hood opens forward, CONVERTIBLE!, and even more impractical than a Miata. Unfortunately a Redline is C5-early C6 Corvette money, which is faster, nicer interior, makes a better noise, and is more practical.
I always loop back...

The reason the Saturn looks so good is because it’s really an Opel GT, and Opel really did a great job styling it. The Solstice doesn’t look anywhere near as good as the Sky/GT

It does look nice, but there isn’t a single one listed in Autotrader in my province, let alone a Red Line model.

How about a Daewoo?
Good friend of mine has a Soltice GXP. He loves the thing! Had the PCM tuned and the difference is night and day.

Yeah, the Solstice is fugly. But the Opel GT is really just an evolutionary design of the Opel Speedster which brings back SO MANY MEMORIES of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit II, and was also funded by GM

I prefer the Solstice hardtops.
Even the ones with aftermarket tops look great.

They are still quite fetching.
My only real knock against it and its twins is how much of a pain the roof is, especially when compared to a Miata.
I don't see too many of them in SLC, but there is a yellow Redline with a trailer hitch ski rack I see often and it always makes me smile.

Opel Speedster was a rebodied lotus Elise with a GM engine. Built at the lotus factory.
The 07-09 Opel GT was built in America and was essentially a rebadged sky

And all of them came with the 2.0 Turbo.

I like them both equally.
The NA ones will drop enough in price eventually. LS swaps for everyone!

I love these cars, except that they had too much chrome. They still look better than the Solstice (also a fun car) which suffered from Pontiac’s typical craziness with plastic.
The trunks on both cars can barely hold a folded MacBook Air (only a slight exaggeration) but they are so sweet to drive.
The C6 however, is a great car. A vette I’d own for sure.

This was my childhood game. It’s... It’s.. (Single tear rolls down face) beautiful.

Yes it has, the Sky and the Solstice. I still enjoy seeing them on the road. And you know, used ones are not that cheap! People still want them.

the outside has held up far better than the jellybean solstice. Both interiors are cramped, terrible messes that shouldn’t have left the concept car stage. The ssr and Camaro share the same concept-car package with terrible production execution (though the Camaro has been around long enough to resolve many of the initial problems, but still fails the visibility test).
