I thought those were like 800 something. Still though, all the WATs!

For the Vette for sure at the launch. Worst launch ever. That’s the only error I see

Corvette also. It was all over the place at the launch

Both launched horribly, beside that, it all seemed good

Agreed on the launch. Still though, that just defies logic! I would say the Koni was sandbagging but it still was fast.

yeah, the K-Car should’ve won though, which means the corvette did good enough! haha

Corvettes are fast! And 700hp out of a supercharged LS7 is very low. That setup should be good for 800+

I bet the driver of the Koengsingdonkeykongcountry didnt set it to dual-semi-automatic-geosyncronous-electronic-uber-race mode.
Way to go ZR1!

Lots of wat? going on here. My engineering brain is working overtime trying to decipher it.
Couple of thoughts: That Z06 HP figure is suspect. I’ve heard from reputable engine builders that the LS7 rods and pistons don’t live long under any reasonable amount of boost. If he’s making 700HP he’s probably got upgraded guts in that motor, meaning he could really make about all the power he wants (up to about 1200HP when heads start to lift and cylinder liners start to shimmy).
Also, if he’s dyno’ed that Corvette, thats probably a RWHP figure. The CCXR is a crank figure, so it’s probably more like 850RWHP.
Also, my Wikipedia-fu suggests that the CCXR was designed for E100 ethanol. It can run on lower grades of fuel (E85, 98 Octane) but at a reduced power level. It only makes the full 1004HP (per Wiki, not 1024HP as the video states) when the car is run on E100 ethanol.
Also, I’d like to see the cD and frontal areas for those cars. ‘Vettes are pretty slippery through the air, and at these speeds drag is a huge factor. Likewise, the Koenigsegg makes gobs of downforce the ‘Vette doesn’t. Sadly downforce comes at the penalty of drag (usually). Both cars should easily exceed 200MPH, but one is going to feel a whole more stable and planted at that speed, and it ain’t the Vette.
Lastly, going back to my power argument, look at those trap speeds! He’s 7 km/h faster at the 1/4 and almost 10 faster at the mile mark. Timing aside, trap speeds are usually a good indicator of gross HP and I highly suspect that 700HP number is low.

It left me confused as well. I never really wrapped my head around it so I decided to spread the love and share to OPPO lol. The trap speed is where the answer is. I left it at that

I’ve heard that the stock guts (rods and pistons) while light weight, will not live up to anything over about 5 psi. Given that the factory power level is a bit under rated (about more like 550 HP than 505) and 5 psi nets a theoretical 34% increase in power, that would put you at closer to 740HP which is really the upper limit for a stock LS7.
Otherwise, if it’s got forged guts, I’ve heard most of the LS motors are good to about 1200HP, at which point you start lifting the cylinder heads.

Hmm, just did some research and I think it’s definitely a power discrepancy.
The Corvette has 22.3 sq ft frontal area and .34 drag coefficient for 7.6 square feet of drag area. At 186 MPH (300 k/m) he needs 353 HP to overcome aero drag and rolling resistance. The rest of the power is available to accelerate.
The best info I can find suggests the CCXR has 20.1 sq ft frontal area and a .33 drag coefficient for 6.6 square feet of drag area. The Koenigsegg needs only 312HP to defeat drag and rolling resistance.
This means the Corvette needs to make up a 41HP deficit just to beat drag, let alone pull on that Koenigsegg like it did. Bonkers! There’s no way he’s making only 700HP, even at the crank. My guess, that Corvette is making close to 1000HP and that Koenigsegg is running on pump gas, not E100. I can’t find exact numbers but I think that puts it back to around “only” 800HP.
Theres also some ways to estimate HP based on trap speed. The calculator suggests the CCXR makes 670HP at the 1/4 mile mark and the Corvette makes 715HP.
I think that ‘Vette is running pretty healthy.
