Lotuses never seem to tank in value. At least you can go to Gator and gaze, I guess.

Right! The Maserati’s are far less reliable and just expensive, if not more expensive to maintain, and they dropped in value like the stock market in 2008...
My neighbor has an early 90's Esprit S4 and every time I see it, it makes me want a V8 again.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned on here that my dad nearly bought one of those new. Well, I say nearly...
We were at some county show in Norfolk, and of course Lotus were there, selling to boozed-up farmers. My dad was interested in getting some kind of sportscar at the time, and the Esprit really wasn’t that expensive. (I think he’d looked at an Elise but couldn’t fit, so the salesman took him to the Esprit.) He was offered a test drive, agreed, went to get in the car, and the door handle came off in his hand. He didn’t buy one.

I’m still sad about what happened to James’ Lotus in Patagonia, it was the only car that had no problems in that special either. I know how rough top gear specials are on the cars, I knew what was going to happen to it, so while I was happy to see the Lotus, I knew it was a ‘Dead car walking’.

They lower in value hypothetically, but does anyone really know if there are lotus dealerships around like that? (there sure aren’t a lot in the US :P) Also I wouldn’t get one unless its Doug Demuro style (unlimited mileage warranty, etc)

You dont notice it in person, just these low angle photos where the photographer is laying on the ground.
