The car has this lovely new smell of burning oil too. On the plus side the temp gauge still holds steady at half way. I need to go home so I can check codes dammit!
Figures the month the car needs its inspections for new tags this happens...

hopefully its just a leaky oil line or a easy-to-reach gasket

I can only hope...
But, let’s be honest, has anything on this car been easy ?

lol your temp gauge is so buffered it reads in the middle from 170 degrees up to something like 220 degrees.

180k miles on an e36 - there’s a lot more to check than just the engine!

Well, I’d say about 70% of the suspension is less than a year old, so there’s that.

Have you needed to replace the rear shock towers yet? I had to do that on mine when it was barely 4 years old; the driver’s side had completely separated from rust. The passenger’s side had already been replaced by then (this is 2004 and I had a ‘99) and it had been given the worst hack/slash job I’d seen. I simply had both cut out and refabbed by a body shop I trusted.

We put reinforcements on them but with all the shit that was wrong with this car, the shock towers both front and rear were completely solid.
