I was looking at some old posts. And I actually said this?? This is what I said about 4 cylinder Mustangs in 2014...
Then, 6 months later, I was going on like this:
Holy geez, I was really fraking bipolar on this topic. (o__O)
Ok, that’s all for tonight.

Speaking of Ecoboost Mustangs I was at a Ford dealer today waiting for my car to get inspected. There was a black Eco Mustang sitting next to a Z51 Corvette. I found myself wanting to really drive the Eco more than the Vette.
I’m not usually a Vette fan anyway, but is this weird? And I don’t really think I would want to own a non-V8 Mustang unless it was an SVO or something else really cool.
I also really hate how they have (slightly) more power than my Mach though. I would fix that but I kind of like having a stock-ish Mach. A rarity these days.

What was it getting inspected for? And you can just slap some SVO badges on an Ecoboost and call it a day right? :p

When I was young, and before I was even into cars at all, I developed strong preconceptions about engines. I believed that V8s were the standard, V6s were an economical compromise, and 4-cyl engines were gutless powerplants meant for getting people from point A to point B and not much else.
Of course, it’s not that simple. First and foremost, it’s the power-to-weight ratio that really matters. Also, engines are a lot more advanced than they used to be. Cylinder count doesn’t define what the engine is capable of.

Just a state vehicle inspection so I can renew my registration.. Nothing is broken as of now! Knock on wood.
I’d love to call it with SVO badges but then you’re missing the adjustable suspension, biplane wing and suspension upgrades. I’d be happy with GT350 suspension just bolted on an Ecoboost. That would be awesome. Along with the hood scoop. I’m not sure the new car could pull off that awesome biplane wing however...
I’d rather have a new Mach 1 though with an NA crossplane 5.2. I’d love to see more of what that engine can do.

Knocking on wood as well. We don’t have state inspections here, so yay MI. And I’m still waiting for that 2.7 V6 they should’ve put in the car already. You didn’t see anything about a Mach 1 for 2018 on 6g did you?

Before I was even into cars, I had no idea what engines had to do with which cars other than flat-6 Porsches. But when I got into cars near the end of high school, I didn’t really care what cars had what engines, as long as it was more than sufficient in the power and efficiency department; then I got my ST the next year. Then later that year when I made the anti-4-cylinder rants, It was just after I went to my first Mustang show, surrounded by nothing but V8s and cams and big blocks and the lot.....That changed everything for me. I was actually surprised all the years of Dream Cruise hadn’t made it clear sooner.
And by that point, the only 4 cylinder Mustangs I’d seen were Fox Bodys at Parts Galore. Of course, now I’m finally understanding there’s more to a car than just cylinder count, but dammit if it isn’t easy to balance rationality with emotions.

Thanks for doing the digging so we didn’t have to.
It’s interesting to see the shifts in peoples’ attitudes toward a certain subject, politics, world affairs, car companies, powertrains, HP levels, etc. in just a few short years. Often they’re a full 180 degrees from where they were when you chose to start measuring. If you’re paying enough attention, you catch yourself doing it too.

That’s what happened this week. It’s why I typed this and the last post. I caught myself in a full 180 on what I’d said years ago. Yet it seems like it wasn’t that long ago.

I want both the 2.7 and 3.5 in the Mustang. They would be some seriously fast cars. I’m ok with the new 3.5 being in a Mach. The Mustang II Mach’s were V6's anyway.
I haven’t really heard anything. I still think there’s a slight chance. The GT350 rumors originated with a Mach 1 being slated to come as well. The first half came true. The problem is I don’t see where a Mach 1 would fit in the line up. A GT can get up to 45K quickly. The GT350 starts at 49K. A Mach 1 I imagine would include a premium interior as standard (Like the 03-04) as well as Mach specific parts and other suspension and engine upgrades. It would have to start at around 50K at the least. The only way I see it working is if the 350 gets dropped and a more expensive GT500 gets released.
So I really don’t know. I want to see a new one badly though. In triple yellow of course!

Conflicting battle now that I’ve found out you can get the 1LE package on V6 Camaros!! Maybe waiting is a damn good virtue after all! ^_^

I saw. I’m more surprised what they did with the SS. It has 305's out back now! E diff, magneride, two piece rotors with six pots. It’s not going to be a cheap package.
By the way the 1LE is only available on 1SS’s.
But you’ll be seeing some good Mustang upgrades soon (Depending on how you define soon) so stay tuned...

The younger you was sorta right in the 80s. Well if we compare 4 and 6 to today.

Oh ok that’s just on the SS. I’m tired. I really should be sleeping but I just can’t get myself to do that right now. Or doing my homework... I just keep looking at car parts. This is a problem.

I too should be asleep, but Chevy just announced the car I wanted them to make, and I’ve finally found motivation to do my schoolwork. I might not sleep tonight.

I noticed this before, but decided it was best not to say anything haha.
I respect the fact that there is a 4-cylinder turbocharged mustang now for people who want it, but I don’t think I would buy one. If I want a 4-pot I’m going JDM, yo.

Personally, muscle cars should have V8s. With that said, this generation isn’t as much muscle as it was previously.

Hmm I don’t see a Problem. People change as they learn more, mature more.
