Don’t know. I didn’t get my car new.
Although I still smell a slight “new leather” smell which is nice.

‘87 300D still smelled of new car into the 70s ... wound up putting 110K on it from new.

My work car smelled new till 25k kms or so. Not a great example because it gets mileage absolutely piled on, and filled with car parts.

My car is 3 1/2 years old, and I bought it used five months ago, but it retains a certain subtle aroma that may or may not be used car smell. (It may just be the way the interior smells now.) So... inconclusive?

Luckily, I do not have those problems. If Smelleoppo was a thing, I would not like to embrace those aromas.

Not sure, but I think maybe Andrew Tobias said “New Car Smell is the world’s most expensive fragrance.”

My dad had a Nissan Xterra that kept its new car smell for the entire time he owned it (a few years).

I remember the car wash in the early 90s. They has a station where you could pump it into the carpets. I’m so glad that’s not a thing anymore. My cars smell refined now, leather cleaner and interior detailer.

My Speed 3 never really lost the smell from when I picked it up in Dec of 06 until I traded it in Dec of ‘11. It just always had that smell of itself. Probably just all in my head...

My Mustang is garaged and JUst passed the 20,000 mile mark the last time I had her out in December. I bought her new and took delivery Feb. 28th, 2005. It’s never eaten or smoked in. Even trips to the dragstrip didn’t deter the new car smell. It really started to taper off about 2 years ago. For a while I was going to the local Ford dealer and getting some of the plastic seat covers they’d put on before servicing a car. I would keep one under the driver seat. They smell EXACTLY like new car.... The dealer closed. I’veI’ve yet to grab any from the next nearest...
