[Pic from dad] My dad-in-law just FB messaged me:

I saw a Skoda Yeti Suv in I-75 today with a manufacturer license plate on it - it was travelling in a pack with 2 FCA vehicles

No idea who is testing it, but dad doesn’t lie. I really like the idea of either a rebadged Yeti, or Skoda coming to the US. Absurd, maybe, but it’s nice to dream. He spotted it on I-75, in Michigan.

Apparently I’m dyslexic today. My eye scanned the headline and brain read Yoda Sketi.

Maybe they are using it as a benchmark for a new FCA vehicle that will be pffered internationally?

As ‘Slushbox...’ says. Probably a benchmark for a new car or double twist, the Yeti is an FCA mule. After all how many stateside would notice something being ‘off’ with the look of a Yeti on the road. The two FCA vehicles shadowing it to babysit the mule.

The Yeti is a great car. Reliable, spacious (by European standards) and great driver.

It could also be the Skoda ‘Snowman’ (internally called the ‘A-Plus-SUV’) being tested.

Rumours have been around for a few years that a new SUV based on the new Superb chassis. A bigger sister to the Yeti.

Well it seems more and more things are happening.

The 2013 concept VW ‘Crossblue’ to be between the Tiguan and the Touareg, leading to rumours of the Skoda Snowman, Skoda Snowman seen testing at the Nurburgring in May 2015, then Skoda release concept shots of the Vision S, Yeti seen in the U.S. with a couple of FCA vehicles (when testing a Skoda, why draw attention with other Skodas or VWs, when you can use FCA cars to throw people). I’m comfortable that a Snowman aka A-Plus-SUV aka Kodiaq with see the light of day in 2017.

You may soon see a new VW (Crossblue) similar to a new to be released Yeti bigger sister. Should be at the Geneva motorshow in March.

I think the VW Audi Group has quite a good future ahead of it.

I had typed some other stuff but deleted it for risk of offending the ‘dieselgate’ lot.

Two of my friends have got VWs affected by dieselgate and aren’t concerned at all. The U.K. government has asked VW to come up with a fix but isn’t forcing anyone to have their car done if they don’t wish and won’t penalise them either way because of it.

Well after dieselgate, I waited a few months. Then I bought a Jetta.

Lots of people are doing that and I see tons of GTIs, Jettas and Sportwagons on the road. All brand new also.

I also know a few TDI owners who are still quite happy with their cars. The only ones that are bitching and moaning about it are attention whores.

Like the hippies that are driving to the VW headquarters hoping to get media coverage and their money back. If they care about the environment that much, they should just walk or ride their bikes.

Kinja'd!!!1

I used to get angry and annoyed about idiots like that, but what calmed me down a lot was the realisation that ‘you can’t cure stupid’.

If they are that worried about the emissions, why aren’t they either trying to help find a fix or just get rid of the car? But no, “my car is throwing out a lot more nox than I was made to believe, so I’m going to drive it further than I ever intended to drive it to make sure I do exactly what I’m against before I get shot of the car. That’ll teach them and the fuel stations selling me diesel”.

Kinja'd!!! Svend > jkm7680
02/06/2016 at 13:32

Kinja'd!!!1

You would hope so. But there are people out there that say after each mass shooting, “we need more guns”, people who have to have ‘Caution Hot’ on the side of the coffee cup because they need reminding that an inherently hot beverage is at the point of sale direct from the coffee machine, HOT. People who are suing motor manufacturers for damages, etc... because they didn’t realise that the Stop/Start feature on their car that required them to press start to start the engine, did in fact need them to press the button again to stop the engine. People who are driving automatics and for whatever reason panic and press the wrong pedal and go flying through an intersection, I mean it’s two pedals one to stop and one to go.

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > Svend
02/06/2016 at 15:11

Kinja'd!!!1

That two pedals thing was exactly what happened to Audi in the early 90's or whenever it was. Wasn’t Audi’s fault. It was people with fat feet.

Kinja'd!!!0

Lol. It still happens from time to time in the U.S. with YouTube videos of drivers at drive through car washes and cars jumping through intersections and crashing into petrol stations with the driver saying “I put my foot on the brake pedal to stop, but it just made me go faster and I panicked and pushed it down further”.

People are dumb. Very dumb. Haha.

In the time between my A6 and the Jetta I ghost clutched the automatic car I was using a few times. But I can’t say I’ve ever mixed up the brake and gas.

It’s strange for sure. I learned to drive on a manual transmission car and have only driven a handful of automatic cars. While I’m not a great manual driver by far, I prefer it much to automatics.

I think it’s just better (not that I can real world compare it). You have more control of the car and how it behaves, your more connected. It’s why I love my BlackBerry and it’s physical buttons and not just a screen with finger marks where I’ve been swiping and flicking my fingers across.

So many things these days say they are ergonomic or intuitive but end up separation the operator from the task.

Yes I use the microwave but I also like to cook and do my own thing and see what happens with it an how it comes out, it may be good, not so good or bad but it was me that made.

Mass shootings happen in Gun Free zones. The One Eyed Man rules all in the Kingdom of the Blind. Not saying More Guns would do it but getting shot does tend to stop people from doing things.
