I bought a thing. After a recent experience, I decided it was time for a new every day carry item. So today I bought a Glock 30 w/ factory night sites AND a training course.

Nice. What made you decide to get a Glock if you don’t mind me asking? I went with the XD and later on the XDM as well from Springfield Armory.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 13:45 |

I was going to ask that too. I keep a Colt Defender handy and am very happy with it.

Originally I was going for an M&P or an XD, but the Glock just felt right. It’s a near perfect fit, and I got it for a great price.

niiiiiiice! That be one comfortable gun, yo! Love it, congrats!
![]() 02/05/2016 at 13:50 |

Price(it’s factory refubished), warranty, and feel. Also, a 10 round subcompact .45 is kind of hard to find.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 13:52 |

Thanks! After putting 50 rounds through it, I can definitely say that it is the perfect fit. Smooth, very little recoil, and it fits just right.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 13:55 |

Nice. I may have to check it out next range trip.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 13:55 |

Nice choice. What holster do you plan on getting?
![]() 02/05/2016 at 13:56 |

I put 50 rounds through it already, and I am very pleased with it.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 13:59 |

Haven’t decided yet, but I have a few weeks before I can carry it, so I have time.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:02 |

My personal recommendations would be, N8 tactical or Remora. And stay away from Alien

I have had a few Glocks and have had very few issues after multiple thousands of rounds through them. Lately for the past few years I have carried a H&K USP Compact and I love it. It handles very similarly to the Glock at the range and it takes abuse. Plus, it has a safety which is a big concern you develop when kids come along.
Grats on the new piece. Use it wisely and it will reward your efforts. I once did a torture test on a G26. I went almost 1500 rounds with no cleaning before it jammed. I like that ability in a weapon. I am at 1300 with the current USP and I have only cleaned it once. No jams and no misfires.
Have fun and be safe.

How old is the gun, or more specifically the night sights? I ask because tritium has a halflife of ~12.3 years, and it does get noticeably dimmer over time.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:04 |

Nice! I’ve got a Glock 19, and I love it!
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:05 |

Obligatory “lol plastic gun” and “Glocksplosion” posts.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:07 |
|
I like the polymer. Plus since the slide is metal, it’s very well weighted. Though I will own a 1911 someday.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:07 |
|
I only carry occasionally, and am a bigger guy to begin with, so I don’t mind a little more weight in exchange for the simplicity and comfort of a good ol’ 1911, albeit a slightly updated, carry-sized “commander” version.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:08 |

Everything but the slide and body are brand new, including the sights.

DAT GRIP ZONE DOE
(Just busting stones of course)

All things that make sense. When I got the first XD I picked it up and immediately knew it was what I wanted.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:09 |

Nice!
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:09 |

I definitely plan on both of the last factors. It’s good to hear about the torture test!
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:09 |

is that an aftermarket, extended baseplate on the magazine?
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:10 |
|
HAHAHA
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:13 |
|
Awesome! Is it .45 ACP? Are the mags double stacked?
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:13 |
|
I almost bought a Walther PPQ, but they I found the Glock.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:15 |
|
Yes and yes. It’s a 10 round .45 ACP subcompact.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:16 |
|
AFAIK it is factory, if not, it is a Glock product.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:17 |
|
What’s in my picture isn’t a 1911. While I wish it was, it’s something just as old and a lot more rare.
(pictured when I first got it, before a rigorous cleaning)
It’s a Ortgies .32ACP semiauto. The markings on mine identify it from the 1921-1924 production run by the Deutsche Werke company.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:17 |

I too am a bigger guy, but I wanted something that I could completely conceal. I do want a 1911 eventually though.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:17 |
|
Good choice, I have a 23c with night sights and I really like it.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:18 |
|
Oh I know it isn’t, but I was just stating that I do eventually want a big, metal ‘Murican gun.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:22 |

Oh thats funny, I got a G30S around Christmas time.
45ACP is fun and expensive and fun.
Congrats!
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:30 |

Ooh, interesting. I would have guessed Tokarev.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:34 |

It’s cheaper than some addictions.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:37 |

Awesome. I have a Glock 20 that is badass and next to my bed. I carry it with me hiking as it can be used for hunting due to the amazing ballistics of the 10mm (Ted Nugent uses it for boar hunting).
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:37 |
|
Will definitely consider, thanks!
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:42 |

The PPQ is amazing, but this is probably easier to conceal.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:47 |
|
G27 checking in... (.40S&W)
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:48 |
|
Yeah, I love the PPQ. Shot it back to back with the VP9 and FWIW I liked the PPQ trigger a lot better.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:53 |
|
Neat. Either Forgotten Weapons or C&Rsenal did a video on them recently.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 14:54 |

*sigh* I wish I could carry, but here in Communist NJ the only people who can carry guns are criminals and cops, and I’m neither.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:05 |

I got a Glock 30 9 years ago on the day I turned 21. Still my favorite gun. Never had any kind of malfunction.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:08 |

based on the image search i just did (you know, the one i should have done before I asked) it seems very factory. Nice choice.
I had a G43 for a bit, but was not a fan of the way it was put together. Swapped it out for an HK P30SK. It is much bigger, probably comparable in size to your G30, but it just feels better to me.
I am waiting for the Walther PPS-M2 to show up locally. A bit bigger than the G43, but still single stack, hopefully with the same smooth feel (at least the PPS-M1 had it), it may be the sweet spot for me.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:34 |

Looks pretty neat! What was the incident, if you don’t mind me asking?
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:39 |
|
For the record, I’m kind of a bigger guy that looks a bit... rednecky. Anyway, I walked into a robbery before it happened, and they backed down. With my job, I’m put into a lot of shitty areas, and I’d rather not be put in another situation like that unarmed.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:42 |
|
Well shit. Glad you’re okay. Yeah, that totally makes sense. Does your employer have any rules or things like that around guns?
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:45 |
|
Haven’t found any in the rule book. Plus, I’d rather be alive and fired, than dead.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:48 |

I went with the M&P for the same reason. The Glock subcompact is really uncomfortable. The compact is ok. The M&P 9c fits me near perfect.
The big name brands all produce great guns so it comes down more to preference and fit. Across the board, when you pull the trigger, you can expect a bang
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:49 |
|
You raise an excellent point.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 15:53 |
|
I actually found the Glock to be most comfortable, but of course that all comes down to personal preference. Plus, I wanted a .40 or .45.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 16:09 |

I picked up a G23 Gen3 in January and love it.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 16:15 |

I’ve got a 1911!
sorta... co2 pellet :P
![]() 02/05/2016 at 16:40 |

G19 and G43 here. If you’re looking for a sight upgrade I’d recommend Wilson Combat.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 16:44 |
|
I’m pretty content with the sights on there now, but if the itch comes to upgrade, I’ll consider it.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 17:09 |

I don’t think I’ve ever heard/read of anyone not liking the PPQ trigger or even saying they preferred anything else’s trigger over it.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 18:02 |
|
Probably my dream Glock. I don’t think I’d ever conceal carry but I love subcompacts and want to try one at a range sometime.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 18:09 |
|
It’s definitely a fun gun. I put 50 rounds through it 5 minutes after I bought, and I was smitten.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 19:58 |
|
Excellent choice! I just bought a Glock 23 at the beginning of the year and I love it. I’m taking my concealed carry class in a few weeks here when I have a day off work.
How do you like it so far? I haven’t shot a Glock .45 yet!
![]() 02/05/2016 at 20:05 |
|
I’m scheduled for a CWP class on the 20th! So far I’ve put 50 rounds through it, and I quite like it. It has little recoil, is very well weighted, is super accurate for a short barrel, and it feels just right.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 20:09 |
|
Awesome! Even though I don’t have my concealed license yet, I carry mine in my carry all the time. I put 250 rounds through mine when I first bought it and it shot so damn well.
Did you buy yours brand new or used?
![]() 02/05/2016 at 20:19 |
|
A little of both. It’s factory refurbished.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 20:23 |
|
I didn’t even know you could buy factory refurbed Glocks! Mine was a police gun. Extremely clean, very little wear and probably 50 rounds ever ran through it haha
![]() 02/05/2016 at 20:27 |
|
Yep, even comes with the lifetime warranty.
![]() 02/05/2016 at 20:30 |
|
Damn, nice find! Enjoy it!
![]() 02/05/2016 at 20:36 |

I’ve wanted one for a while, but now that it came time for me to get one, I lowered my expectations and budget. After I had about settled on a Walther, the guy showed me the Glock, and it just happened to be in budget. With the options this gun has, it would have retailed for close to $800. I got it for less than $500 after taxes.

Thank You for the training course.

Well I kind of have to, to acquire a permit to carry.
