My buddy just told me about this place in Japan called UpGarage. It’s essentially a chain of brick and mortar used and new 2nd hand JDM car parts stores, and prices tend to be very. About half of what anything would be stateside, if not less. I browsed through 26 pages of GT86 parts, and had all the wants.

Volks over there are like Rotas and XXRs, in terms of how plentiful and affordable they are. I saw tons of sets of CE28s and RE30s for under $800 w/ used tires. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a shipping quote on those to the US. Perhaps if you knew someone who was travelling to Japan, or were going yourself, it’d be easier to get them to ship such items in person. I put in a request for a shipping quote on a very nice Blitz catback, that retails for $1,300 and was on the site brand new for under $800. I’m not going to buy it, but I’m curious if they will ship to Chicago and what the cost would be.

My same buddy is going to Japan next month. I may have to develop a shopping list for him.

I heard about this place. I’ll try to go next time I’m in Japan.

Edit: damn, closest place to where our Japanese office is located is Nagoya, which is a few hours and two or three trains away.
