I wouldn’t call it a loss. He got pretty damn close to an established politician with the peoples’ support alone.

Liberals in 2008: McCain is 72, he’s too old.
Liberals in 2016: Bernie is 74? Eh, age is just a number...

That being said, Iowa was number 3 on the list of states he has a best shot at winning.

The caucases are a joke. 0.2% isn’t a win or loss for anybody, and more people didn’t want Cruz than did.

I think the big difference there is that if Bernie dies in office Sarah Palin won’t be running the country.

The fact he got within 2 delegates and .3% of Hilldog should scare the shit out of her campaign, especially with New Hampshire coming up.

Well yea, no liberal would ever vote for him no matter who his running mate was. Let’s face it. You could have had god or Santa Claus or Superman run as a republican in 2008 and they still would have lost.
![]() 02/02/2016 at 20:34 |

If he went with his original running mate I bet he would have gotten a good deal of liberals to vote for him.

Just too bad O’Malley couldn’t get any traction. The only one that wasn’t way too old!
That said, the democrats will most likely be able to easily beat any republican except Rubio. O’Malley is the only democrat that could’ve beaten Rubio, should he win the republican nomination.
I also feel that a vote for Hillary is a vote for Trump, and that a vote for Trump would be a vote for Hillary. Trump is very close to the Clinton family, which could be one of the major reasons trump didn’t win Iowa, plus the religious shit and failure to attend the last debate.\
I like Bernie, but he is rather old. The only good thing about being so old is that he’ll only be able to serve one term, which means no pandering for re-election. One of the worst traditions we have is that no president has ever lost reelction in wartime, which needs to change, or else we’ll NEVER get out. People need to be willing to vote them the fuck OUT.

To be fair a moderate like McCain was a weak pick for the GOP: too far right for a lot of undecided voters and too far left for most of the hardline conservatives to endorse, hence the Palin pick to try and salvage some right-wing support. That being said anyone running against Obama was already behind the eight ball for sure.

With McCain and Obama, I got the feeling like “here are two people that really care about this county, even if I don’t agree with their plan!” With the upcoming Trump v Hillary it’s like choosing between Brakekleen on an open chainsaw cut and a cross country trip in a Prius where the only entertainment is YouTube comments and a four year old kicking your balls.

It’s definitely not pretty right now, Trump’s running on pure ego at this point and I’m not sure what Hillary’s endgame is because she refuses to pick a side on every other issue. Either way I’ll be interested to see if either actually win the nomination, Trump’s gotta run out of steam out sooner or later and Hillary’s got a long fight ahead of her judging by Iowa. Supposedly Rubio’s the favorite to win the GOP nom now that Trump has started to decline.

Well put. This is exactly why I don’t care about voting this time.

If Martin O’Malley wanted support, he shouldn’t have been a terrible mayor and governor.

I really don’t know what he was like as mayor and governor. He can’t possibly be worse than Christie has been for NJ!

Two things held McCain back. He didn’t have the ideas or charisma to relate to voters or younger people. And His death would have meant Palin would be in charge.
Bernie has none of those problems.
