I drove a first gen Equinox for “behind the wheel” classes back in High School...It wasn’t bad as much as it was so soul crushing to drive. I can’t imagine the newer ones being much better.

I had a 3.5L Impala as a rental once while my car was being repaired (for a few weeks.) It was bright red.
I called it Clifford, the big red dog.
I may be close to understanding.

To be fair, most cars in their lowest trim are horrendous.

I basically said that same thing about the latest Cruze.
Just slap some LED running lights on ‘er!

My mom has had a 2010 since brand new. Just hit 100K. Only oil changes and the tires were just replaced at 80K (from factory). It’s a realiable, comfortable, quiet, reasonable place to spend time. It’s not sporty by any stretch but it does those above things well. All while doing a good mpg run.

Whenever you see a car you love crash and burn in the market, just remember that this gets to be the 4th best selling crossover in the US.

I had a rental Equinox and I did not enjoy myself. Didn’t help that someone smoked in it for a decade (trade-in).

Latest as in refresh, or latest as in 2017? Agreed on refreshed Cruze. I like the 2017.

My mother has a 2010 and the whole thing is broken, hence the loaner car.

I was going to do my own post about this yesterday. Had to pick this up from an employee that quit. 250 worst miles I have ever driven. Body roll, cheap plastic, wobbly trim and no power.

yes , but i work at a GM-Holden dealer , so i don’t know much about them yet.
i have seen so many of the Craptivas come into the workshop with issues , especially oil leaks.

yes , V6 have timing chains that stretch.
z22d diesel have massive oil leaks , to fix engine out and 2 day job to do.
4 cyl petrol motors just put rods through the block!

To that point, the 3.0 liter v6 was scrapped for a reason. I don’t think it was just a power/economy issue. I think they knew it was a crap engine. Hope the issues get resolved soon!

Thanks, we’re getting the camshaft and timing chain replaced. Thankfully, GM is paying 60% of the $2,000 job.

I thought they had a recall (at one time) on the timing chain? I know my moms did (4 cyl though so that makes a difference). Glad they are paying for most of it though.

A bulletin, not a recall. But it’s still pretty annoying.

Well the Journey was free, but we hate it anyway, and this base Equinox is a loaner until we get our 2010 Equinox LTZ fixed. Because, ya know, the whole thing is broken.

The Equinox is, hands down, the worst vehicle in the CUV class. I bet even the Nissan Rogue Select beats it out.
