My idea is to TIVO it and watch it by myself- the SigOther liked to watch Clarkson and company once in a while, but I think this is a bridge too far.

Replace Chris Evans with Jenson Button and I’ll watch it.

My parents prefer the trio, I’ll give one episode a chance by myself then watch it again with my dad and see what he thinks. If we can’t enjoy it as a family we’ll just keep watching reruns and clips on the YouTube.

Yes, but I’m excited for Top Gear USA to be the best Top Gear

Sure, I have no reason not to and to be blunt I’m gagging for a real car show and this could very well be it.

For me TopGear is Clarkson-May-Hammond. So, no.

yes I will watch it because I’m not a 1 car show snob, I seem to be in the minority that is actually happy that all of this means there will be 2 car shows where there used to be 1

It already is. Netflix and Hulu ditched Top Gear, so America is the only one we can watch anymore.

I don’t expect it to be bad, but it’s not Top Gear. Think of it this way:

Porsche decides to make the 911 a front engine layout for the next generation. It is just as fast or faster than the current generation. Is it a bad car? No. Is it a 911? No. Call it something else.

Killing the 911 and replacing it with a front engined “912" would cause less backlash than making the 911 front engined. That’s what’s happening here.

BBC should be saying “Top Gear is dead, this is what we are replacing it with” rather than “this is what Top Gear will be now”.

I will probably catch a few. I don’t want it to fail because we need more good car shows.

Plus I am in love with Sabine Schmitz.

I’ll probably check it out after the first series is over so I can skip a few episodes if I need to. I like Chris Harris’ youtube work but I’m afraid that he’ll have to dumb down his nerdy (interesting) side for the lowest common denominator audience. They usually cut off James when he tried to explain anything technical. And I hope they approach sabine’s role from a “she’s a cool woman with serious driving skills” angle but I worry that gimmicky German jokes will be spread on thick.

I think it’s worth a shot.

Keep in mind that just because this is the starting formula for the new Top Gear, it’s no guarantee that this will be the only formula. James May wasn’t part of the Top Gear we’re all so familiar with until the 2nd series (or maybe it was third).

Even Top Gear USA was tragic when they tried to mimic the UK format, but found their own when they decided to just to episode long car challenges - it’s much more befitting of US television. Part of the fun of the UK news segment is that the three of them said many ridiculous things and had great chemistry.

If Chris Evans isn't well received, I can't imagine this going on for very long before a replacement is found.

I didn’t like it when Top Gear USA dropped their version of Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, so I suppose I’m a fan of the BBC format. We’ll see what they come up with.

I’ve never been a fan of the segment and especially so in the later series where it seemed to take over the episodes. I’m watching the show for cars or at least comedy with cars in the background not to hear somebody plug their new movie.

Grow up. Top Gear started in 1977, well before Clarkson & Chums got their hands on it.

Will it be different? Yes, of course.

Will it be better? Probably not, but it’s likely to still be the best motoring program on TV, such is the competition.
