This is the first time anyone in our family has bought a lathe, and he gets this giant? As always he’s not doing things by halves.
Approximate specs: 1400mm bed,660mm swing(diameter not radius), biggish motor. We had a quick look over. It’s all there except for the chuck.
Everything moves -kinda.Needless to say it will require a lot of TLC.The main gearbox looks near perfect inside so it’s likely the others could be too.
Not bad for several hundred dollars :-)

That thing looks like it weighs about 3 tons.

How the hell do you move the thing itself?

You can machine small parts on a big lathe but you can’t make big parts on a small one.

Thats awesome! I need one in my life... though I would do more damage with a vertical mill. I would scoop one up in a second.

I take it you’ve got sufficient juice in your machine shop to take it? My dad got one a similar size some time back, but we have yet to dig up a three-phase box to run it with and it’s missing the tailstock.
