Kinja'd!!!

not this one

He is looking for a car for 2000-2500 dollars. He has a great disdain for FWD cars. That’s a bit of an exaggeration, but he ideally wants a RWD, or AWD car. Problem is he doesn’t like Subaru, or VW, or Audi, also he needs a reliable car, needs 4 useable seats. Also his line of work demands he has some cargo room. And he is the kid of guy that likes to be able to work on his own car.

So I found him a perfect car. it’s manual, it’s RWD, It’s got four seats, It’s probably not horribly slow, it’s even a “hatchback”, it’s in budget. Hell it’s even got damn flip ups.

Not for less then like 8 grand. Also I think I forgot to mention he wants something fun to drive, and preferably manual.

Does he necessarily need a v8?

He’s not an SUV guy. like he hates SUVs. he believes in wagons, and hatchbacks. Subaru Foresters, and first or second gen CRV’s are probably the most SUV thing he’d go for. My brother is a peculiar dude.

Foe example his favorite cars I would say are.

Volvo 740 trubo, Volvo 850R, Scion Xb(firstgen, his wife has one) Toyota “Pick up” 4x4 back when Toyota thought trucks didn’t need names. and then either the fourth or fifth gen Civic hatchback.

The 850R is more of a FWD car, even more so the scion

Excellent taste in cars though. I’d maybe look into a 5 series wagon.

Good choice if he has cheap insurance.

Way way better than any Honda except the Passport [Isuzu Rodeo], FWD Volvos, and anything Saab ever. After all it needs to run, pass inspection, and parts that are not NA or NLA.

Yeah I think, like myself, he is just tired of driving FWD car. Although unlike me he has had RWD cars so he actually knows what it’s like. Personally I’d be afraid of any BMW that you could buy for less than $2500.

I’m not really familiar with car prices in the States, but you can buy a decent E39 touring for around that money where I come from. You have to admit, that except for American cars, your RWD choices are quite limited.

no kidding, A decent E39 around here would still be in the 4000 range. Especially if you want a manual. The only BMWs you’ll find for less than 3000 grand, are either rusted to hell, or suffering from electrical gremlins or both.
