(At least I think there is another Iowan here.)
Tonight it does not matter that we are one of the lesser states.
Tonight it does not matter that there are more pigs than people in our state.
(And more cows than people)
Tonight it does not matter who we are in the eyes of the nation.
Tonight the eyes of the nation are upon us.
Tonight we help determine the future of our nation.
Tonight we Caucus .
Seriously though get out and Caucus. Unless you’re a Trump fan. Then do whatever.

What do you do when you don’t like any of them? Write my own name? Or write “Raptor Jesus”?

Fun Fact: some Iowans don’t know how to count to XII. They also think a Cyclone is a kind of bird.

Dear Iowans: When I referred to the Downs paradox yesterday, I totally wasn’t referring to the caucus. Every single one of your votes matters, and you are definitely the state which determines who becomes the nominees in each party. Your wisdom and insight has shown the way the country will go weeks before the rest of us have primaries. Go out and caucus!

Depends on the ticket. On one side, they let you stand in the corner by yourself and caucus for the FSM if you want. On the other, if you don’t make the threshold, you can either go home or re-divide (after more speeches). So, I expect Nader supporters will be standing in their own living rooms by themselves.

I was actually supposed to cross over and watch a caucus with my AP gov class, but they canceled the trip due to impending weather. Sissies.

Fellow Iowan here. Can’t make it tonight, but I sure hope we stop this Trump nonsense in its tracks. If he’s the nominee, I’ll write my own name in.

The Iowa Caucus doesn’t decide the nominee. The Republican and Democratic Party Conventions do, next summer. This is just the first poll to start building a track record, and separating the wheat from the chaff.
There were 12 candidates on the ballot for R, and 3 for D. After tonight, there should really only be 4, or maybe 5 at the most for R. Huckabee has already bowed out, as has O’Malley on the democrat side, after posting 1% while the other two senior citizen retirees , er, I mean democrat candidates fought to a functional tie.

A Cyclone is something that comes through from time to time and destroys things in its path... A Cardinal, which is a bird, is one of the team colors, the other color being gold. Not the oddest mascot in the world of college athletics.
An animal is easier than a vicious weather system to impersonate, as anthropomorphized mascots go.
You can take my word... I am a bit familiar with that particular university in more than one capacity, both a student and employee. (but generally not much of a sports fan of any sport or particular team)

Agreed, and I did my part, as one of the votes for the constitutionalist that beat him back.
A raging egomaniacal charlatan reality-TV bully vs. a democrat progressive un-prosecuted felon or outright socialist moon brain with the economic sense of a fruit fly is too much insanity to tolerate.
I’ve done what I can for now, here in Iowa. If it comes down to a brokered convention, it isn’t on me, and hopefully we’ll all have a sane choice that will at the ballot box in November, that will actually abide their oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States that defines the limits of their job description.
Maybe they’ll even give their oath of office right, unlike the current occupant who messed it up, and had to re-try it again later after the inauguration.

You do have a point there. I didn’t say I completely understood it... just that a cardinal is easier to personify than a tornado...
Plus, they have to have something to compete with the bird from the other big university in the state... they do go nuts about fighting over their Cy-Hawk football trophy each year.
