I saw one of those cruising around Ottawa in early December. Great car.
Also, as is tradition, you’re not a true Ottawa Opponaut unless you’ve seen the white Countach that cruises around.

For me, possibly the Napier-Railton. 24L W12 power, dawg.

It sucks that my camera’s battery was dying so I had to turn it on and quick snap a photo before it shut off again making the shots look terrible. That second photo was taken a lap before the infamous crash.
Also this one but it wasn’t racing.

Ferrari 250 GTO at portland International racway on display at the CART race, 1997 or so. I got emotional, it was amazing in person.

This car.
No, really, I mean this specific car. I saw it in the early 2000s driving through the paddock at Lime Rock days before the Memorial Day races. It belonged to Frank Selldorff, who was working with Turner Motorsports at the time.

I’ve only seen one in person, which was randomly attending a small-town 4th of July parade. I was all “wut”. Silver, of course.

I didn’t make it to Donington when I was over there, just Brooklands. Seems I need to make it next time.

I once rode in a freshly restored ‘63 Corvette Stingray, split rear window and all. My then 8-year-old self didn’t appreciate it as much as my 26-year-old self, which is probably a good thing. I’d have fainted.

What color 918 do you want to see pics of? I’ve seen 7 in total, all of them very, very cool.
Also cool stuff:
Biggest tires I’ve seen on a street legal car. i believe they were 435's (!!!)
A legal R33 Skyline GT-R V-Spec
An Alfa Romeo Type 33 Stradale with some Alfa Grand Prix cars in the background
While the Lambo is cool, the Porsche 911 RSR in the back is even better.
It is real and authentic. Getting the side graphics put on. The shell alone is worth $300k.

I have seen a 918 in black. Sexy cah

I saw one of those too, sadly my phone was dead.

I actually saw one of these on a surface street. Just about broke my own neck with a double-take. The rear fender gills are a BIG clue that this isn’t just some 308 GTB.

When I saw it at the dealership, I completely ignored the Ferraris and Porsches besides it.
I was blown away that they even offered it in Mexico.

You poor soul...
How has anyone never heard of the Ferrari 288 GTO?
2.8 liter Twin Turbocharged DOHC V8 mounted longitudinally amidships, when 308/328 were transverse, and not turbocharged. It is derived from the 308 and R&D being done for the 328, but stripped out to basically be a wide-body fire-breathing race car for the road.
A group-B competitor that, like it’s rival, the Porsche 959, didn’t actually get to race before the racing class was cancelled, but made for halo hyper-sports cars for both brands.
288 GTO, and it’s literal evolution, the 288 GTO Evoluzione directly preceded and informed the legendary Ferrari F40, which under the carbon fiber front and rear unitized clamshells is mechanically similar to the 288 GTO predecessor, just more.

Sorry, I am not that knowlegable about my Ferraris. So many models......

+1 Mako. I saw it and it’s twin brother in the GM heritage center.
![]() 02/01/2016 at 17:51 |

It is ok... but 288 GTO is one of the crown jewels, so to speak. You are right, there are a lot of special Ferraris... which is kind of what happens when the only thing they ever do is build special sorts of cars for people with loads and loads of money.
![]() 02/01/2016 at 18:28 |

Oh hey, fancy seeing you here just hanging out betwixt trailers. This was unexpected...
I was going to elect a polished aluminum DB4GT Zagato that was heading out on track the same event I just can’t find the pic.

The cool Dodge Viper - I had thought I “could” imagine what its engine could look like but then I saw it realtime up close....
The cool Koenigsegg CCX - seeing those doors go up that way in person is surreal.
The cool Ford GT - Because that was the day I sat in that car & saw the materials and fit & finish & realized the crap I drove around in shouldn’t be called a car. Should be called “moving meh”.

Almost forgot about this...
If I remember correctly, the owner bought a wrecked ‘66 GTO in the early 70s. He contacted Ferrari about getting some sort of body for it. The mechanics were all intact, but the body was destroyed. Ferrari had the body from a ‘57 Testa Rossa racer that had been pulled off and replaced with an updated body during it’s racing career. So, this is the frame and mechanics from the ‘66 and the body and cockpit of the ‘57. When it fired up, it sounded like God clearing his throat.
