My buddy is driving a 2005 Honda Accord and is trying to troubleshoot. He’ll have a code reader tomorrow afternoon but figured I’d see what the Oppo collective thinks. From his texts:
“Got it back from the auto body Thursday pm. Check engine light came on Friday morning and then it stalled out three times on 93 while drive home. Cut out 1-5 seconds then turned back on.”
“Drove it yesterday and it did the same thing while giving it good gas to get on the highway but drove it the rest of the way and this am going ~60mph and not giving it heavy gas...no issues.”
“Not sure if it’s electrical connections jarring loose/failing or the fuel pump.”
So, whatcha got? Anyone experience this before?
More interesting Honda around the ring for your time.

The fuel confabulator is mistracheotomizing. Total loss. He needs to replace it with an S2000.

I’m pretty sure my BIL’s 1999 Accord is having the same issue. Basically he has to put it in neutral and maintain ~2000 RPM right after he starts it to ensure it stays running, otherwise it will cut out. If that’s the case, the transmission is most likely toast. Is it a V6?

Hole in the intake or air filter? Sounds dumb, but my Elantra did that because it kept choking on the a/f mixture since the intake vacuum was wonky.

133k and general items should be maintained/good. Told he hasn’t had the opportunity to check it himself, though.

4 cylinder.
I’ll be sending him my post so hopefully he can elaborate based on your (and other) feedback. Thanks!

My thoughts as well, first plugs and wires, then coil pack.

Why waste time guessing without knowing what engine code is set?

Because random guessing of car issues is less fun than playing in mud?
