Your tires, they be pressureless! Assuming winters? :P

Things I’ve never seen in the flesh at it were: speedometers with subsidiary mph figures.

It may not be broken in yet, the damn thing could use a proper cleaning inside. Looks like Miles Davis’ dashboard! ;-)

Two bad sensors. I’ve been putting up with them all summer too. Couldn’t be bothered swapping them when I had my snows put on wince the cold screws them up anyway... I’ll do something in the spring. I’d rather just take the bulb out and forget it, but it has a DIC message every time I start up too so that wouldn’t accomplish anything...

I was going to put down something like a milestone of 62137.119 but I couldn’t get the wording to work nicely so I dropped it.

This relates to something I really don’t understand about GM.
GM is known as a cost cutter and parts-binner. After all, why design 2 parts when you can make one work? Now, as far back as 2006 (to my certain knowledge, probably earlier) they were making cars with speedometers that had electronic switching and only used one set of numbers on the dial. Great idea, right? Looks better, easier to read. Oh, and you’d only have to design one instrument face! Right?
Today, GM still doesn’t use that system everywhere. They use it a lot more, but not everywhere. Now let’s get something straight. The speedometers are all electronic anyway. Implementing this would just be software. Which makes the decision to implement this on higher trims on some cars while the lower end trims get the old-fashioned dual scale system make perfect sense, right? Designing 2 faces to save money by not using the software that you’ve already developed because you can use a simpler system that isn’t actually simpler at all and provides no benefit?
It gets worse. They aren’t producing 2 faces, they’re producing 4. They’re producing a dual-scale in both MPH and KPH versions, something they’ve always had to do. And also, for no reason other than Americans aren’t used to seeing numbers in excess of 150 on their speedometers, they are producing two of the electronically switched single-scale. One (using the Traverse as a reference) up to 140 and the other to 220. Now both of these, within their own markets, make sense and are fine. But when a US car crosses into Canada, suddenly they have a point where it all runs out. Admittedly, 140 is going to be fine most of the time, but it’s also very easy to blow by... depending on how what time of day and where you’re driving, you could be straddling that speed with no issues. On the other hand, the KPH speedo is going to be plenty in both countries. I can see selling a crossover with a 220 speedo in the US wouldn’t be super smart, but TBH we don’t need that in Canada either. Knock it back to around 180 and we’re all good. One part, done. And yet GM, with it’s reputation for doing exactly that as much as possible, won’t do it here...
Have another GM design. From the 80's this time.

It could, definitely, but it’s not as bad as it looks... it looks that bad because the TPMS has two bad sensors and I have to clear the DIC message every time I start up. So one spot is spotless, and the contrast really shows...
