Yup. It’s happening. My 7 year old wiped out and hit her chin in the living room. Awaiting stitches.

Apparently she was making a pillow fort and stepped on a blanket that was in the hardwood floor.

Drove her myself as waiting for a volunteer ambulance on a holiday is not conducive to quickly being seen.

I know the feeling. One of my kids ended up in the ER on Christmas two years ago because no urgent cares or clinics were open. Even at the ER there were only a few people working. It actually worked out OK for us, because no other patients were coming in either. Good luck, hopefully she gets stitched up and is back playing by dinner!

Poor baby. And on Christmas too. It will be okay.

Sorry to hear that. But driving yourself is cheaper than an ambulance bill. At least you’re having a Christmas you’ll always remember!

My insurance would have covered the ride. It just would have taken about 15 minutes longer. I figured the sooner I get there the better.

Might not have covered all of it. Regardless, you get to be Hero Dad by taking your kiddo to the hospital.

I hope she’s okay and it doesn’t put her off having fun later on.

Well, that will be a family story forever - sorry to hear it though.

Kids and ER are never fun. When my son was 5 years old he went down a slide head first and face planted into gravel. Needed 7 stitches on the inside of his lip. Good times.

Trust me, my insurance would cover. PPO plan with out of network coverage.

I think I scared her more than anything.

ER doctor asked why I didn’t wait for an ambulance. My response was “I’m faster on a normal day, let alone Christmas.” He agreed I had a valid point.

Poor kiddo. My family brought the plague to my brother’s house and passed it around...
