The car, it is said, shoulda been given up for dead, but she drove on for all she could muster...
He flagged a car down, the po-lice came around, he said buddy do you need a favor... As they stood there, the flames burst in the air, came the wreck of the Buick Le Sabrrrrrrrrrrre!
So I’m a little obsessed with the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and I love the song, so occasionally I look for good versions of it I haven’t heard. It’s not a song I think should be messed with too much, but this is a funny one I think we can all appreciate around here. Our resident Mainahs will like it too.

Funny. That Le Sabre is about the size of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I remember hearing that song as a kid and thinking that the Edmund Fitzgerald must have been some legendary ship from like the 1700's or something that was sunk by pirates.

Yeah, I thought it was fitting that they kept the “26,000 tons more” line.

FWIW Buick never made a LeSabre wagon - that’s an “Estate Wagon”. This is a LeSabre:
and it is deserving of a boat’s name!

I did not know that. A little artistic license with the song, then.

Never a problem with a little creativity to make a song work!

Since Breaking Bad started I’ve been thinking Walter White was played by a younger Gordon Lightfoot...
With less hair of course. Never actually knew the story of the Edmund Fitzgerald, got some reading to do I see...

Wow, the resemblance is amazing! Yeah the Fitz is a pretty interesting story, worth learning up on. There are a few documentaries and interviews on YouTube worth watching.
