Actually, winter’s not so bad, right? I’m a skier, I love snow!
Oh right. Sometimes it rains even when it’s below freezing at ground level.
And then there are these mornings. Come on, it’s only December!
However, our kitchen came first. So I wait.......

Garage or not, that thing is gorgeous.

Thanks! I wish I could keep it inside for many reasons.
The wheels I got from a ‘99 328, and I’ve kept them now through 2 cars. The winter wheels are nothing special (Sport Edition) but I like the 5-spoke look and it’s easier to clean snow out when it gets caked in there.

I love the look of cargo boxes on little 2-box cars. Here’s mine.

Nice little car! For carrying skis, there really is no substitute. I can also just leave them up there all the time, which makes getting everyone out of the house to go skiing muuuuch faster.

This is why mine pretty much always has the bike racks on it (2 trays on the roof and a two tray rack on the hitch.) never know when they’re going to be needed (and I don’t really drive often, train commuter) but at a moments notice I can pick up friends and head to the trails.

You need a garage? At least you have an actual roof on your car instead of a tent lol. I am excited for taking my Miata skiing at some point this season. Surprisingly works quite well for ski transport. I could probably fit about 10+ pairs of skiis on my luggage rack if I tried.

Yep, bike racks are on all summer. Even though I’ll take the truck locally, if I’m going after work or something it can be easier to just take the car. Or, if I’m going more than 15 miles haha.

Haha, yes! I’ve always wanted to take a convertible to a ski area. Just get dressed at home and put the top down! Ok maybe not for the highway portion of the drive.

It was hovering around 0 here with the windchill in the negatives for a week or so, but as soon as I made plans to go snowboarding on christmas day the forecast changed to 40 and rain.I hate wisconsin weather at times...

Thanks! I had a black one before this one, I’d probably have another if I can find a decent one by the time this one dies. I really prefer the E46 drivetrain to the next gen. but they stopped making it in ‘05 which is... getting to be a long time ago.

The N52 really is a damn reliable powertrain with a number of guys past 200K miles now. I own an E92 and love it (the chassis, mine isn’t an N52 so I can’t say first hand! but 100% understand the E46 love, my dad has owned his since new (MY2003) and it’s a fantastic car. Granted you also have to find a well spec’d E91 and good luck with that unicorn.

Haha yeah I only do that for the ride from the lodge to the mountain (5-10 minute drive) not the whole 6 hours from home! But yup, I just gear up fully (minus the ski boots of course) and then it could be 30 below zero for all I care since I am dressed so warmly and have heat. I DEFINITELY get a ridiculous amount of looks from other people though. Similar to bringing an Aston Martin to bumblefuck nowhere. It’s a great conversation starter too.

Right, manual E46 325xi wagons aren’t THAT rare, especially compared to the E91. My next car is equally likely to be a Tacoma, though, with the frequency of my needs for a truck that can also carry both kids (the ‘61 doesn’t *quite* pass for a DD kid hauler).
To your point, my wife’s X3 has over 186k on her N52 without major issues. It’s a 6-speed manual, too.

Sarcasm? I honestly have no idea how rare they are, I just know the E91 is truly ridiculously rare (people at least still bought wagons in the early 2000's. I know manual wagons are always beyond rare birds in this country. You really won’t be disappointed with a pickup? I drive the fiancées Durango and it’s just this lumbering, numb behemoth (granted better than most lumbering SUV’s but still).
That is fantastic that your wife has a manual X3. I’m still trying to get my fiancée to learn to drive my GTI while I’ve got a manual in the house that’s just a lease.

Haha, no sarcasm actually! I see them for sale around here fairly often, of course less so each year! I get a lot of my cars from a local indy used car / BMW specialist, and they love manual wagons. They seek them out specifically because of their rarity and as such they have a loyal following of customers who look to them for a high concentration of manuals, and wagons....
I don’t know that I’d love driving the pickup but practicality might win out with two young kids. I’d take a Tacoma over an Odyssey. Oh and because manual.
