In my possession for scratch repairs to the rear bumper and decklid. Try as I might, I can’t come up with a reasonable excuse for a test drive.

We should rotate the tires.

Remove trunk to do the repairs – to make sure you don’t spray on the rest of the car, and to be able to make sure work looks good from all angles. Re-attach trunk and test-drive to make sure you tightened it well and nothing rattles.

Be honest, though, did you sit in it and imagine what you’d do if you could?

Hey how can you say — authoritatively and definitively, under oath — that you *know beyond a doubt* — the scratches had *absolutely no* effect on how it drives??
Unless...

Thought about that, actually (bumper cover will be off, and we probably will pull the lid to avoid bagging the whole car).
“You honestly expected to hear a rattle over the sound of a side-piped V10 in a convertible?”
Didn’t have a good reply to that line of questioning.

I’ve actually had customers request me to test drive to 100mph. And I did, gladly. It was a 2000 Acura NSX, entire left side was destroyed by guardrail. Customer advised me he tracks the car, and even though it may feel good at a test drive at 65, he wanted to know it felt just as good at 100, too.
It felt
really
good at 100.

What about hearing the rattle with the engine at idle at speed? You know, like you were coasting to a stop.

Don’t. Don’t meet your heroes. Start it, rev it, don’t drive it. Be happy.
