This is how I know the Mustang won’t break anytime soon. The Cougar decided it wanted to leak coolant. It was just a clamp that worked it’s way loose, but still....
To be fair the cold snap a lot of you have been experiencing finally hit here. It really hadn’t dipped below freezing except for a couple of overnights. Woke up to under 15 degrees Fahrenheit this morning. Decided I should really start/check all the cars. Of COURSE I had to out the trickle charger on the Cougar as she hadn’t been started in a few weeks. Started up fine and ran good. Got out and saw that. Just more evidence that no matter how much I pamper that car it hates me....

I’m close to 400 hp at the crank with the current setup. With the Grandma 3.45 gears in it she’ll turn a mid 12 on “meh” tires.....
If I threw some 4.10s in her It’s be an 11 second car all day long, but not very civil on the street/highway. I’ve always considered this my boulevard cruiser.

DUDE, WHAT?!? I mean, your name is one thing, but have you shared that beast around here? It’s magnificent! Need to know more.

Yes, I’ve shared it before. These pictures are about 2 years old, but the car hasn’t changed much. Maybe about 800 miles added to her. I was having some issues. First a noise that sounded like rod knock that wasn’t (Thanks loose mount AND defective oil filter both simultaneously — dicks....) and a hellacious vacuum leak from the shaft seals on the throttle body which caused all sorts of driveability issues and was quite the pain to troubleshoot. Once I found that I used the opportunity to go to an even larger one that what I had. She was finally right again this spring, but my work schedule this summer was one of constant weekend shifts. All my toys sat this year.

Love it. Glad it’s sorted again, and I hope you get some wheel time next year. What’s it running underhood?

Fuel injected 302, TFS heads and intake, Ed Curtis cam, whole mess of other goodies, full locker out back and an AOD with a SilverFox Racing valvebody, 2800 RPM stall converter, and hardened input shaft. I’ve never been in another AOD powered car that shifted as good as this one.
