Going to test drive a Solstice GXP in a day or two just to see how I like these things.

My dad has a Sky, the clutch is surprisingly heavy and while it’s not bad to drive with the top down, visibility with it up is extra terrible.

Remember the Turbo Upgrade is a thing that you can get right at a dealer. Really wakes them up.

Im coming from a crossfire, convertible tops are surprising similar in lack of visibility.
I wonder if the clutch issue is because the transmission is from a truck.

Lol at the Saturn/Pontiac dealer? But yea I’ve looked into it a little bit. Seems like a really good deal. +30hp +80lbft and no lift shift above 6,000rpm.

Lol. Any GM dealer will do. I had it done on my Sky. Put it on a dyno after and it resulted in 270hp and 319 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels. Also raised the rev limiter to 7k so I can get to 60 in 2nd gear.

Possibly, no complaints from me about the shifter feel as reasonably crisp and precise.
He does dd it in nicer weather but that is with tossing his bag in the passenger footwell as there is no storage space to speak of with the top down.

Yea I was being a smart ass. But nice didn’t realize you actually have the car I’m looking into. I have to ask how’s the reliability been?

There’s only been a few times in the last 4 years where I would have wanted something larger than a 2 seater. Most of the time I just have a laptop bag. Hence why I’m considering DDing a roadster. I can live that life right now.

It’s been fine. Bought it with 15k miles and currently have 40k or so. There is a service bulletin for work involving the water pump and adding a check valve in the coolant system. Check to see if that has been completed. Obviously there was the famous GM ignition recall too. Mine is currently in the shop for a new battery and the hunt for a potential draw on the battery. Though I think it may have been a cheap phone charger so not sure if that’s a reliabilty issue yet.
The only warning I can really give is regarding storage space. There is none when the top is down. I bought the car when I was single and could toss a weekend bag in the passenger seat. Now that my gf occupies that space there is no room for bags when the top is down.

Good to know yours has been pretty reliable. Will definitely make sure all of those things are done (or negotiate accordingly) before buying one. Storage space doesn’t really scare me. But dully noted on there being almost none with the top down. I pretty much only have a laptop bag with me most of the time.
Just for conversation I’m thinking this is the best deal around me for a manual with low miles. I’ve drive so damn much and it be nice to start off with a seemingly almost new car.

That’s great miles on a very nice color combination. Not sure if the price is good or not. These things are all over the place when it comes to pricing.
Work the top a few times while looking it over. The hinge on top can pinch the fabric on either side. If it does just make sure to pull the fabric out before latching the top so it doesn’t create a hole. I have to do it on my car every time on both sides. It only happens occasionally on the drivers side of my parents Solstice GXP though.
