This makes no sense. Chevy does not have nicer interiors than Ford, let alone VW, yet they’re not even on the list. Toyota should be way up there, too (the Camry is really nice). Although I’m not a fan of BMW, I have no clue how the cars on this list beat them out on their interiors.

It’s interesting that this list is mostly ties for 2nd, 7th, and 10th, meaning most makes have nice interiors.

List made by someone who has no clue and who had to come up with some kind of copy for his/her editor by the deadline

How it strikes me, anyway. Totally agree it’s outrageous =P

Volvo blows everyone else out of the water interior wise. Followed by Mercedes and Honda IMO.

This isn’t even a bad list. It’s kinda just a wrong list. I bet the person who made it was far from a car enthusiast

Having been in newish FCA products, I can report that this person probably was far from being a human. Probably just a robot that calculates results based on an algorithm that generates random names.

GM once used that. It created the Allante and the Sintra. That’s why we don’t use it anymore.

It’s easy to have a good average when you have two cars. The 200c isn’t dragging them down. I could see a top spec 300 and Pacifica getting high marks.

2. Kia

Again, obviously tied with Porsche

And Tesla

And Audi

And …GMC???

None of that matters anyway though, because all are beaten by the true number 1. Chrysler

Kinja'd!!!

Although I don’t mean to be a downer, Toyota interiors may look good but quality has gone way south. I was in a new Sienna and then a recent Prius and the plastics felt like they were made of Easter egg shells. Also, all the fake wood.

BMW’s are nice but getting quite dated nowadays

How about first a large touchscreen from 2017? That’s a good start, now some gauges that don’t look like they’re from a freakish carnival but actually belong in a $40K sedan. Better materials for sure that are actually soft-touch, not fricken egg shells. Oh, and actual interior design would help instead of just putting things in places. There’s no cohesion, everything appears separate whereas there’s running motifs in the Merc, Vo, and Kia. Better wood, too.

They’re lovely digital gauges rendered in sophisticated and subdued colors? Anyways, I’m not trying to say the Chrysler interiors are shit, just that they don’t deserve being compared to the much better options out there. They still beat Chevy IMO.

Chevy constantly amazes me with how they have apparently never learned. Their interiors still look like they were designed/constructed in the 90s. I mean, that Volt interior could be transplanted in a late-90s Cavalier and after about 15 or so years of wear, nobody would be able to tell it wasn’t original. Their panels are still hard plastic, don’t fit well, and show flashing around the edges, for crying out loud!

I think it might have been the last-gen Camry that impressed me. It was so nice that it seemed like a much pricier car. I haven’t been in one in a while, the last was the rear seat of a 2013-ish base Prius C in the dark, so I didn’t really get a sense of it.

Is there really that much you can do to a traditional car interior to make it nicer? If it hides all the airbags, looks, and feels good, does it matter how old it is? Is it possible to call the interior on that Chrysler better with a straight face?

That said, I do actually like the interiors of the other German makes better, but that’s more ergonomics than appearance or quality. I hate all the tacked-on screens wherever they’re found.

Kinja'd!!! Amoore100 > Eric @ opposite-lock.com

I don’t know man...maybe American car buyers enjoy having interiors that look like they’ve melted prematurely? Sure seems that way.

I think the trouble with Toyota is that they tried just hard enough to make it seem fresh and new but the materials belie an inherent lack of quality. I too concur that Camries used to be tanks; my grandparents have an ‘05 V6 and all interior surfaces are still smooth and feel like they did on day one. On the other hand, I’ve been shuttled in contemporary ‘yotas (~12 Prius and ~15 Sienna) where the new plastic texturing meant to mimic rice paper or whatever just feels chintzy and hollow. Also, the sharp angles like how the Sienna’s dash is demarcated by separate districts kind of gives the feeling that it was thrown together by a committee rather than actually designed .

Anyways, I don’t really have a bone to pick with BMW’s interiors other than that they’re not very friendly. Many buttons and no touch screen? Sumptuous but confounding.
