A while ago this fine opponaut enlightened the world to the treasure trove of cheap vintage watches available on eBay.
Well, a few weeks and $14 later, I am now the proud owner of a new 4 decade old Oris watch. I was slightly bummed when I took it out of the package because it was not running, but then I took a look back at the original listing and (!) it’s a mechanical watch. YouTube videos helped me figure out that process, which was easy enough, and it’s now keeping perfect time as best I can tell.
Plus, being manual and all, it’s the most Jalop form of watch.

Nice, looks good. Now I’ve looked at those on eBay. Now you’re a bad influence.

Old watches are the best watches, at this point I only buy old USSR watches from a guy in Latvia.

Oh that’s cool. eBay as well or some other source? I’ve been searching for a Raketa.

I’ve actually got 2 Raketas as of the moment, I buy them off of Etsy usually.

Usually do “vintage watch” and sort by lowest prices, or ending soonest. Many of the sellers are in India. The vast majority of the unique 70's watches that can be had on the cheap are either Citizen or Seiko brands.
