I like it. but screw the characterization of Mike skinner. Seriously, I cant stand that section.

I love him. He’s finding his own groove of “Parody of an American” and I think he’s getting self-aware. Still not perfect, but I think he’s growing into the role. Other parts of the show are painful to watch because these are experienced people in their roles but skinner....for a newbie he’s getting the hang of it well.

I found the rest of it quite good. But thats the ONE section/character I cant stand. I know they cant use stig, which sucks. But this isnt the way to go me thinks.

Screw Skinner’s character , the dude can wheel but I wish they didn’t have him playing a buffoon. I want them to have him do a lap in one of his trucks, in all its brutal glory.

Mike Skinner is actually a funny guy when I’ve been able to hear him do interviews or host his show on Nascar Radio on Sirius/XM. Sadly that doesn’t always come across when he is playing “The American” since they are having him be a characterization.

I’m with you 100%. I get what they’re going for with the character but it doesn’t come off as random as they seem to think. I feel it would be a better skit if he had random country songs playing instead.
It’s been a long time since I couldn’t wait to get home and watch a “TV” show of any kind. They got me though. This show, Ash vs Evil Dead and Man in the High Castle made me break a 10 year “cord cutting” run. Certain shows need to be on a big(ish) screen.

Once I finally start to have some income, I plan on getting a a 55inch OLED TV and a try screen set up for my PC. so i can watch TV shows and youtube on the big screen, and have maps or stats or w/e opn it when playing games.
I dont need a cable/Satellite box anymore. Just good internet.

Once my 6 month cable rate expires I’m dumping the cable and keeping the internet. I only watch two stations out of 225+ available. That’s pointless when it’s almost all available online somewhere.

I’m French, when it comes to ridiculous caricatures of French, American are the best lol. I’m all good with the know-it-all redneck thing that they have going on. We’re stinky frog leg eating smug assholes, they are extreme right wing voting uneducated rednecks and Brits are teeth falling, meat boiling consanguine cousins. (Last part also valid for Americans down south :) )

If it’s any consolation, there are Americans who find him a bit over the top as well.
Sure, sure stereotypical humour and all that jazz, but I mean, at some point forcing it is going to make the show less entertaining than it was on the BBC.

I agree, I had enough when JC was introducing him and I was hoping he was joking. But then it continued. When they try too hard is where they lose me. This is one of those instances.
