Driving manual while wearing steel toe boots. My clutch already has no feel to it, no sense in rubbing it in.

You could instead try with worn out shoes after working 15 hours and have the ‘clutch feel’ be slightly better than stepping on burning legos.

I stepped in dog shit at the park last week and drove home with no shoes on. Pedal #3 felt like a spike going through the bottom of my left foot after two shifts.

I keep a pair of Vans slip ons in my car because I just can’t drive in my boots.

Why would you do that to yourself. I took mine off to drive an automatic back when I worked a dock in HS.

Driving barefoot is fun-ish.
Whenever I wear flip flops, I take them off to drive because safety.

That’s a good idea, I swear it’s like driving with cinder blocks strapped to my feet.

There isn’t even enough room between the pedals in the Mini for me to even try driving it with my boots on.

Agreed. I can’t get a feel for the clutch with boots or dress shoes on.

I’ve never had an issue driving in my steel toes. I have to do it so much it actually feels weird when I wear my converse to drive.

I find my auto 4-cylinder accelerates and stops more quickly when the pedal is stomped by ~5lbs of steel reinforced metatarsal+toe safety boots. Of course, your experience may vary, but I find my safety shoes are the most comfortable shoes I own... after 20 years or so of wearing them every day (not the same pair, of course!), except for crouching, where you risk toe amputation. Clutch feel would be nice, though, on the rare occasion I drive someone else’s manual: can’t exactly carry a spare pair of driving shoes just in case, right?

Yeah dress shoes are pretty bad for working the clutch, they’re too flat and stiff or something.
Vans and Sperries are the best for me and running shoes and boots are the worst.

If your clutch is very truck-like in nature, then I’d imagine you’d be fine. But if its feather light and weird like mine, then that’s another story.

I have to drive with converse or thin sole shoes. I don’t feel the brake pedal with my running shoes or puma soccer shoes and think the brake lines are blown. Clutch I can deal with.

Now do it in a Chevy Spark. Not only couldn’t I feel the clutch, I became convinced my foot was missing.

I just got used to it in my old Mazda so I hardly notice. I ride with steel toes usually so I guess that’s kind of the same thing?

Driving a manual with boots(not just steel toed ones) is...odd. Since my boots don’t really allow for the level of ankle flex that I usually use to operate my clutch, I have to adopt moving my whole leg to operate the clutch. If I ever get into nasty stop-and-go traffic while wearing boots in my car I am going to have a bad day. Also my boots are only just barely narrower than the gap between the gas and clutch pedals, so it can be tricky to grab just the brake pedal.

All good points, I have a weird seating position and the pedals are angled up for some reason, so I was fine with that

I had to adjust my technique when I started commuting in work boots with the Niva. My big feet plus work boots meant I could without much contortion, hit all three pedals at the same time, with only one foot. Braking and downshifting at the same time always got interesting... “
