Friend took me wheel shopping, I don’t want to change the wheels but he says my car is too boring. What say you OPPO?

I love the “pretoria” wheels on your car (first pic). I’m not a big fan of the others on any VW.

Option #1 looks meh. Option #2 looks really good, almost looks factory.

I would refrain from changing the size of the wheel. Keep in mind that the suspension is tuned with the stock size tire in mind. Bigger wheels with smaller sidewalls will result in a rougher ride. To get back to a softer ride involves getting softer springs and shocks. That, in turn, will lead to more body roll in the turns.

If you don’t care about a rough ride, then rubber bands on giant wheels will be fine.

Golf R wheels belong on the Golf R, or some horrendously stanced VW trying too hard.

Your wagon looks stock. Don’t put 19-inch wheels on it.

I think that the Pretoria style looks good, not the Cadiz though.

How is the quality of the average road in Brazil? If it is terrible I think staying with the stock rims might be best, though I think the first option also looks nice, how big are those? The second option looks way too big for a stock Passat imho.

But golf r wheels look terrible on a golf r. They look good on a Passat.

If said Passat is horrendously stanced and trying too hard, then sure.

If you don’t care, don’t waste your money making your ride a bit more harsh. If your friend insists that you must get new rims tell him he’s free to buy them for you :)

Really, it’s up to you, if you value having a certain look that much or not.

Your current wheels look alright to be honest and in my humble asshole opinion your Passat looks kinda downscale without xenon headlights anyways. Fancy wheels wouldn’t help much imo.

I like it with the Golf R style wheels. I’m also a big fan of the BBS CH-R (I think) on VW’s.

All of OPPO (as well as a significant portion of the enthusiast community) will disagree with me, but aftermarket wheels on an otherwise unmodified car never look good. Aftermarket wheel look classless. Occasionally swapping out different OEM wheels will look nice. I also hate headlight and exhaust modification.

That goes out the window if you have a “modded” car. But, stock apart from headlights/wheels/exhaust? Ghetto.

But not enough for me to like them.

Yeah I thought the first set looked okayish. I still think the wheels you have now are the same if not better. I guess they are better if you’re trying to stand out. The second set is right out imo.

Did you end up buying new wheels or still considering?

I AGREE. That said, V70R Pegs on a bog-standard 2.4i are also dumb so please don’t.

Or 20-inch Ixions on a S40. Yes they’re OEM. No, they don’t look good.
