I got rear ended last week and got a nice little Camry dent in my rear bumper. After chatting with the other guys insurance and an assessor (through text and only these first two photos) I have an estimate for the check they will be sending me. So step on up and take a guess!

The first two photos are what the assessor saw plus a shot of the VIN. I went ahead this weekend and pushed the dent out so it didn’t look as terrible. Now you don’t really notice it as much

I would say $600.

Off topic, how do you guys almost always manage to get their insurance to pay out? I’ve been hit by three different drivers, two of which drove away, the third stayed but had no insurance and skipped town after the police report was filed. My rear bumper is seriously starting to suffer because of this.

$60 too much. I was rear ended while I was at a stop sign. He stayed and had insurance.

There were about 5 connectors to take off or just flip the lights up in to the back of the car to get them out of the way

Wait till it’s warm out again to paint it.

Work in a body shop. Any repair that isn’t needed right away I’d wait until the weather is warm so the paint can fully cure. Paint booth bake cycles help but it usually takes a few weeks of warm weather for a proper cure.

I kinda like our insurance system here in Manitoba.

It’s public, One insurer and everyone has to have comprehensive coverage. It also helps at work in the body shop. Way easier paperwork wise.

We pay more for motorcycles but with a not great driving record and being a young male I can still afford to drive when my license would be unaffordable under most private insurers.

Be lucky? Last guy that hit me owned a big company in Milwaukee and was driving a new Escalade.

Even got the check in just my name.

That seems really nice, while we do have mandatory comprehensive here in Texas, thanks to the fact that we share a border with both New Mexico and Mexico, many people (illegally) register their cars out of state or have family in Mexico where they have their car registered, so if you get hit, you are screwed.

At least everytime I’ve been hit was at a stop sign, so the only damage was cosmetic. Still irks me though, I take care of my car and its other people who trash it.

You need to have uninsured motorist coverage.

Yep, first thing I got the first time I got hit, the only thing that is stopping me right now is parts after that third hit. The only good thing about Mr Uninsured was the fact that he stuck around until AFTER the police filed their report, so I have proof.
